Pompey's Defence Set To Improve

Winterburn believes Adams will use his experience to make Pompey's defence solid.

He said: 'I think Tony will be fine at Pompey. He's had his time at Wycombe and has also been abroad coaching.

'The fact he was a top-class player will also help him do a good job.

'One of his biggest assets will be helping Pompey on the defensive side of things.

'I know he sometimes found it difficult getting his point across to players at Wycombe.

'But it is totally different working with defenders higher up the leagues.

'You are working with top players who don't need telling three or four times.

'I can see him working well on the coaching side of things and forming a good partnership with Harry.'

'I think Tony has changed as a coach.

'He's not the type of person he was as a player earlier in his career. He is a deeper-thinking type of person now.

'That will be a benefit to Portsmouth's players, especially the younger ones.

'He knows what it takes to have a career at the top level and what it takes to stay there.'

Let's hope he can pass on all his ability, in return for this valuable experience he is gaining. The Arsenal website already have him penciled in as a future manager.

Wonder if the adams majic is working already. Word is.. we are prepared to pay £50k a week to Sol campbell for 3 years. BLIMEY !!!
FEn_100
Blimey is not the word, the one I thought of ends up with five little asterixes or should be asterii. he is a few weeks off being 32 dont know if I can see him still being competitive at 35. Arsenal will only offer him a 1 year deal which is their policy so a two year deal maybe better.

Rumour has it Sol has done a deal woth £50,000 per week while in germany with Harry. Looks like it could be he got a decent wage by NOT using an Agent and opting for a Lawyer instead. Iff this is true, what a good way of getting rid of troublesome agents, paying a Lawyer peanuts as opposed to Agents Millions, and pocketing the difference yourself. If true, maybe other players would opt for the same, removing Agents and benefitting financially. [Edited by lmatthews]
Knobber
Couldn't agree with you more knobber. Agents are the scum of football these days.
FEn_100
If what Knobber said is true, may this signal the start of a bit of common sense in the world of football transfers. Stop the glorified estate agents sullying our game!
Tantona
Greedy minipulating scum in fact I'm convinced AGENT stands for A Greedy Ex Notorious Termite and should be eradicated.
