Pompey Get Their Man

Pompey Get Their Man

As Vital Pompey told you last week Glen Johnson today became Pompey`s first signing. Johnson has joined on a year long loan from Chelsea.

Johnson said he wanted first-team football to boost his chances of playing for England caps.

'This is a great opportunity for me to play regular league football again and force myself back into the England set-up,' he told Portsmouth's website.

'The club have big ambitions and I'm looking forward to playing a part in them.'

Johnson has also told Vital (via third party), "It enables me to be near my family." Johnson has been described as friends and family as a " huge family man."

Harry Redknapp has described the deal as a "quality capture."

"He is a top defender and will continue to get better, so this is a real top quality capture for us.

'The lad has a great future ahead of him. He is already an outstanding defender and the kind of player most Premier League sides would give their right arm for.'

that's the way to go England international. With Matty on the left and Davies, Oneil, Obrien, Ashdown, Grithin and Primus that gives us a good core of British players. All we need now is Defoe and I'll be one happy boy!!

Also chill about Priske. Harry has already stated Priske will be here next year. We need 2 quality right backs. My money is on Priske being here next year. Don't believe the crap in the papers about him going elsewhere. He still has 2 years on his contract!!!

Glen's a fantastic signing, hope this doesn't mean that Priske goes as he was superb in our escape last season.

Great to get GJ. He wouldn't have liked Holland & all that double dutch. Hoping Priske stays too. Play up Pompey.

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
