Gone but it looks like he will be back

Gone but it looks like he will be back

The loan of Greg Halford has now ended, well technically it was not due to end until 3rd January, according to sky sports, so I am surprised he has gone back to Wolves so early...

Halford is suspended for the Boxing Day game against Millwall although with games against Leeds and Watford, after Millwall, before the loan would end why has he returned to Wolves early?

His loan must surely have ended sooner than 3rd January as 'reported', right?

Whatever though we have lost the services of Halford until the transfer window reopens again, although it is 'expected' that he will return to Fratton for a further loan spell - and until the end of the season this time.

A 'loan with the option to buy' looks the most likely scenario, although with Mick McCarthy saying that he would like Wolves to recoup most of the money they paid for him, which was £2m, a permanent transfer would 'seem' unlikely at the moment really...

Lets not run before we can walk though, just getting him back on loan until the end of the season would be a bonus at this point in time, so that would do.

I thought he was training with them purely because he was back in the area? He is available after the Millwall game I'm sure.

To quote: "As it stands, Halford is scheduled to return to Molineux after the January 3 fixture against Hull. Halford is currently training with Wolves after being caught up in the weather on his return to Birmingham at the weekend." To quote SC: 'I think he wants to stay, and at the moment he is back with Wolves this week rather than training with us. 'It took him 11 hours to get home to Birmingham the other day. 'As it stands, Hull is his last game, but hopefully we can extend it a bit more. Hope that clarifies the position. PUP

Surely a loan with an "option" to buy would be fine - just don't take up that option at the end of the season - SIMPLES!!

Yeah NnB is right Rug. As he's suspended for Boxing Day it makes sense for him to stay up there for Xmas.

oh, so will DO have him available for leeds and watford then, that is a bonus - sorry, my mistake! it DID make sense for him to stay at home if he was missing todays game anyway, fair enough.

    Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.

    Winning over the fans

Cook feels he still has to 'win over a proportion' of the fans at Pompey?

Tubbs surprised...in a way he has a point

5-goals in a combined total of 8-matches isn't a bad return is it so having made his move to Eastleigh this week I get Tubbs' point at his surprise Cook wasn't selecting him.
