Roy Keane To Replace Perrin?

Former Manchester United midfield general Roy Keane is being linked to Portsmouth. The links began on Friday when the club issued a statement saying: 'Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie is making enquiries about Keane’s availability. Milan Mandaric (chairman) believes he is the kind of character the club would welcome.'

However the Daily Express have gone even further and run a story today suggesting Keane is very interested in the prospect of a player/manager role at the club. Keane had suggested that he would find it very 'hard to stomach' playing for another Premiership club and having to go into the away dressing rooms at Old Trafford, but if the offer involved his first step into management, who knows?

Keane is also being strongly linked to Celtic who were the team he supported as a boy. However his wage demands might be too high for the Scottish club.

Milan Mandaric, Chairman and owner of the Fratton Park outfit has already cast doubt on the future of current boss Alain Perrin and isn't slow in sacking his staff having already parted with managers Alan Ball, Tony Pulis, Steve Claridge, Graham Rix and Harry Redknapp since 1999. He said 'Of course there is a lot of dissatisfaction I'm quite sure with our supporters with the results, especially in the last couple of games we've played. It's something that needs to be looked at very closely and that's why I am looking. I'm looking into the situation very carefully, with a lot of attention. I'm going to respond, I owe this to this club, the supporters and of course myself.'

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has also been linked with the job as has George Burley who recently parted company with Hearts. Burley also took Ipswich Town all the way into Europe and had a spell as manager at Derby County.

Why not have your say, vote on our poll, do want Perrin replaced by Keane as manager?
