Chainrai confirmed as chairman
After Balram Chainrai, Levi Kushnir and Deepak Chainrai concluded their takeover who would become the chairman was the next thing on the agenda.
The 'rumours' were flying around, with anyone of these men possibly getting this title...
Kushnir was the one that was expected to get this although The Pompey Site has now confirmed that it is in fact Balram Chainrai who has landed this role.
This decided at a boardroom meeting on Wednesday: 'I am delighted to take up this appointment and to play my part in the rebuilding process of the club.'
He said he wanted to be at the game tomorrow, which looks likely to be our biggest turnout for sometime, but business commitments will prevent this so the next home game after this will be the first attended as the new owner and chairman.
Even so they will be following from afar and hope that our rise continues: 'unfortunately both Levi and I have important business commitments overseas this weekend that we have not been able to re-arrange, so we cannot be at the game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
'We're very disappointed not to be there as it looks like there could be a sell-out crowd, but rest assured we will be cheering on Steve Cotterill and his players from afar and hoping for another win.
'The team have performed superbly and we hope their outstanding form continues and they can keep pushing up the table.
'We very much look forward to being at Fratton Park for the following home game against QPR for what should be a fantastic match.'
I am glad that this is sorted out, and also glad that it would appear that officially on The Pompey Site was the first place that this news was announced, as should be the case with news like this.
