'If It's Football, It's Vital'

SOS (Save Overpaid Sol)

Harry says he hasn`t spoke to Sol Campbell but Peter Storrie did, at some point over the weekend. Peter apparently went to meet a Chelsea representative and then on to speak to Arsenal`s vice chairmen.

Portsmouth (as revealed by Vital Pompey yesterday) will not make an offer for the English forward unless he is released for free when he returns from the world cup. Even if Arsenal do decide to release him he would have to take a huge wage cut!

'It's difficult, he belongs to Arsenal but I like Sol. He would be a leader and would give the club a push forward,' Redknapp said on Sky Sports News.

'He's a player with stature and a terrific understanding of the game. He would be an ideal player for Portsmouth but I don't know what Arsenal's plans are for him.

'I see in the newspapers there is a possibility he may be leaving and if he was to leave he would be a player that would interest us.

'But we haven't really gone down that road, we haven't enquired to Arsenal about him.'

Sol Campbell is no longer a top target, hence why Harry is talking about him. Peter Storrie, Harry Redknapp, Sacha and Milan have agreed not to talk about top targets.

hopefully u will get him, he's still a very good defender. how old is he now?

He's 32 but will be 33 in September. Would be a good player and if Arsenal do let him go, for free, we may be able to afford a decent wage bill for him. But 70k a week is ridiculous. That works out as 3,640,000 a year to keep him. Whatever Greedy man! I haven't earnt that in my life yet!!!

Yes lets see the one who walked of Spurs on a free trensfer, cut his wages down to size, hasn't played for England yet, all good signs, maybe chuck in a farm or something.

He wont come to portsmouth. And we are not interested in bringing him here unless he cuts 50k a week off his wages. FACT !!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Sol Campbell is a Red Herring. We won't sign him, not on his wages.
