'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another consortium on the horizon?

Duffen was the man who took Hull from the Championship to the Premiership, for that he is commended, but he left with them struggling both on the pitch and with finances, would we be prepared to got through all that again?

Here is what he told Express FM

'I have been monitoring the situation at Portsmouth for several months and trying to do a deal for some weeks. I have a fully funded bid ready to go,'
'I have been looking for a good opportunity and biding my time but I would love to get back into football and take charge of a club with such fantastic potential.

'I had three very successful years there, culminating in promotion to the Premier League, and have done my time in the university of football that is the north of England.

'But I would love to get back in and it is no secret I live just outside Guildford.

'Portsmouth have a fantastic fan base and there is great potential to develop Fratton Park. It is a challenge that excites me.'

He certainly seems keen to get reinvolved with football, he failed in the past with proposed takeovers at West ham and Cardiff, what Pompey need right now though is stability, not a quick fix, if he were to sort out Fratton first, then a training ground maybe I would believe in him, at least then he would leave a legacy!

Well I hope AA will get cast iron guarantees from him if his bid is serious.

Chanrai told SSN that he has a surprise for the fans when (and if) he takes back control. When pressed he added - 'Going back to the Premier League'!! All of a sudden be have people lining up to buy us, where have they been?

Chanrai also mentioned having a 'consortium' - could Duffen be a part of that? PUP.

Perhaps Chainrai is going to buy us some star players? I don't want them, I'm happy with what we have.

The big surprise is that Peter Storrie is part of the consortium........ apparently he's been wisely investing some money he's just happened to come by over the years!

I don't trust the Duffer, he screwed up Hull. If he's part of something with Chan or a n other then fine, but not on his own; he cannot support the necessary finance. A bit like Milan only Milan has the decency to admit it.

haha corny i don't think even storrie is stupid enough to come back to the city of portsmouth any time soon, he'd be hung drawn and quartered in minutes lol. Great news that people want to actually invest in the club again just could of been a little sooner but i assume thats down to our performance in the league and how little money the playing squad actually needs spending on it and hey if chanrai and this guy do have a consortium then maybe just maybe we might finally get that redevelopment we've been promised so many times... i won't hold my breath ;D

im not sure i wanna boom back into the prem to be honest, the whole Rooney thing is a joke for a start, "pull the ladder up Jack and sod the rest2 they couldnt give a shiney ****e! and neither could the Premier League Assocation. Id take some stability here for now, bring a few more youth team players through, develop the training ground and the ground itself and lets see were we stand in say 3-5 seasons, id take the stability over bouncing up and down between leagues with glory hunters coming and going as they please ! PUP!! rant over :)

I always thought duffen was a bit of self publicist...he seemes to love the camera in his face, almost as much as his mate fabulous Phil......As for Balu's suprise..I have not heard any thing, but i would guess he has funding for the ground development...i was only thinking last week when that Hong Kong Billionaire wh failed in his last chance bid for Liverpool...I wonder if he knows Balu...

with talk of a consortium behind Balu you might not be all that far off graham, but atm i'd be happy just to have an owner again lol

I don't want to judge Duffen too soon one way or the other. Its natural after everything that's happened that we won't trust or accept anyone. Then again we don't need another rubbish owner - we just can't take it. I would like to know how bad was the situation he left Hull in (after all nowhere near as bad as what happened to us!). And what do Hull fans think of him?

Here's your opinion from Hull. He's a snake oil salesman, a bloke who loves himself, with absolutely no understanding of basic economics and he was a fraudster. He engineered transfer deals with over inflated fee's, with half those fee's being split with agents and paid into off-shore accounts. Only the return of several million in an out of court settlement prevented him from facing prison. He used club funds to buy a Lamborghini, fine wines, his golf club membership and even to host a lavish birthday party. He is single handedly responsible for the debts we ran up, many of which were only done to fund his own lifestyle. You think you've had bad owners in the past, well you have, but this one would be a class apart. He was under FA investigation for his dodgy dealings, so might not pass the fit and proper person test anyway.

lets just hope we CAN regroup and rebuild as a club and do this in the right way, PLEASE let it be onwards and upwards now - i would admit that i would have concerns about this if duffer came in...

Chan said the club will have to borrow money - ot oh- but then he said it will be structured reasonable and he will guarantee it and not against the club assets; now thats what im talking about! He also agreed with the FL he cant take money out for the duration of the 5 year CVA.
