Is it even possible though?

Putting aside the thoughts, and practicalities, of even being able to bring in any more players - be it the football league approving them not forgetting the costs involved in doing this, and being able to afford it - would it EVEN be possible for Ryan Shotton to join Pompey?

It is 'said' that Shotton has become the new right back option that the club have been working on, not that anything is being given away...

Steve Cotterill wants to bring in a right back and a midfielder if he can with options 'lined up' once the transfer embargo is 'lifted' - assuming this ever happens, and we can financially afford this too.

Why, assuming we could bring in a player on loan, would Shotton be a no go then?

The fact that he plays for Stoke 'surely' makes this something that we cannot do? Did we not have the whole problem that bringing in Liam Lawrence in his initial emergency loan move from Stoke was an issue due to the number of players we already had on loan from Stoke?

Is it not a maximum of 2 from anyone club - or is that a maximum of 2 from any one club involved in the same game, but Lawrence was the exception to that rule due to the circumstances surrounding that move.

Or is there not a limit to how many you can have on loan from a club, so long as you do not exceed the amount of loanees that can be involved at any given time in a match day squad, something like 5 or 6, right?

I still retain my thoughts that a right back is not a priority, even if we could get him though can someone please clarify to me - and others who might be confused - if rules would even allow us to sign Ryan Shotton on loan...
