Fair play to him!

Fair play to him!

To be honest I am not a fan of Ibrahima Sonko.

In fact I think he is 'probably' one of the worst defenders, on his early form with Pompey, that I have ever seen play for Pompey with my own eyes - and I have some donkies pull on the blue shirt over the years!

Although what I would say is the guy has gone up in my estimations a great deal with his comments in The News today.

He accepts that Rocha John Rocha and Aaron Mokoena have been playing well and has no complaints that they are keeping him out of the starting 11 at the moment.

In fact he actually understands this and tended to hint that he accepts he has not really been playing that well in the opening months of his Pompey career so has few complaints.

What he says that he will do is look to give it his all, if and when chances come along.

In a day and age when some can demand to move on, or kick-off if they are even taken off, to hear him speaking quite openly and honestly is quite refreshing and his comments actually add to the weight that this squad is very much united as one - long may this continue!

Although, in spite of his thoughts and honesty, I am still unconvinced that he will improve as much as he would need to in order to secure that regular place, then again others have managed to do this so you can never say never...

He also did a Kick Racism Out Of Football event that's on the OS, so well done Sonko - off the pitch anyway!

His 100% attitude will win over his doubters. Look at the reception Reading fans gave him at FP

Oh and while i am at it.... Not just Sonko, but for any player, please stop booing... Pompey Dont do booing, leave that to the clubs that think they are better than they are. I suspect its mainly because a lot of the fans there dont remember the old days, when we were no playing Premier league football, not in FA Cup finals and not in Europe. Well thats fine but stay true to pompey as those days may return but untill then get behind your team as opposed to on the teams back.

He sounds like a top bloke. Pity he's been such a poor defender up until now. He's been so bad I truly believe we are better off with 10 men without him. But I do want him to improve, and I'll be delighted if he does.

I remember I think it was Bristol, when we were watching him warm up during half time as he was a sub. I am not exaggerating in the slightest when he had about 5 passes to Ritchie which missed him by a huge difference. Ritchie had to keep chasing the ball for him after it had been blasted behind him. I could honestly not believe it as I honestly could have done better. I hope he is just going through a stage. It is a real shame Cotterill has wasted a squad place for him though. I know he wants and means the best but him and Dickinson have not been outstanding since their arrivals. I am happy to give time and encouragement but its poor judgement by SC
