'Dave Kitson and Dave Nugent are the strike pairing that I would play', not my vote, yours - although these findings from veccccio's poll are thoughts that would agree with to be honest.
I think that Kitson, who has that quality about him that I think we have been lacking in a striker for a while really - he is mobile, skilful, can hold the ball up well and bring others into play and most importantly of all you, well I, DO have belief that when he has a chance he can - and more often than not will - take it, so he is a shoe-in for a starting place every week for me.
Nugent, as frustrating as he can be at times, does work hard so I do not think anyone can fault him for that. Other areas of his game, and sometimes his actions off-the-field as much as on it can be faulted though. He has always, for me, needed to be played as a striker with a partner alongside him so I could see these two working well together.
Problem is I am still not convinced if these two are playing together or if John Utaka - who to be fair has put in good shifts, defensively too, against Sheffield United and Leicester - is playing as part of a forward 3?
That said Utaka does seem to be playing a bit deeper so perhaps he is playing the wide left position in something that is more of a 4-4-2.
Either way, and whatever we are doing and did against Leicester can we see more of that in the future as we looked a genuine threat coming forward and I, for the first time in a while, had genuine belief that we could, and would, score virtually every time we attacked - granted sometimes more, depending on who was attacking, with some than others...
