Stadium Investigation (Part One)

Stadium Investigation (Part One)

Stadium Investigation One

What we already knew

6.10.03 (When it all began!)

This was the start of the stadium trouble. The club published a statement telling fans about a "press conference tomorrow morning to announce and display, plans for their new stadium which they propose to build on the old Fratton Park site."

What you weren`t told- you weren`t told that these plans had taken over a year and still hadn`t been finalised when they called a press conference.

Should they have released news regarding the stadium without planning permission?

(17.10.03) There wasn`t an official statement until eleven days later.

Milan Mandaric released a statement regarding the new stadium. Here are snippets of the official statement. "I thank our supporters for their patience thus far. We are now well on the way to delivering this promise. (New stadium) This morning I can tell you we are as near as we have ever been in turning blueprints to brick work."

What you weren`t told- The stadium plans had not been completed yet and they where a long way away from brick work, as they didn`t even have all necessary requirements from the council yet.

Why where plans that had not yet been approved shown to the fans?

(17.10.03) the big plan

1) Destroy North and East stand,.
2) Build new stands with "mounted floodlights." 25,000 seater.
3) Improve West and South stand
4) Complete 35,000 seater stadium

Also all stands heights would have to allow daylight to reach local residents.

What you weren`t told- These plans had not been confirmed yet and it wasn`t even known if the local council would accept these plans.

Pictures where also revealed of the proposed plans Click here to view these.

Join me tomorrow when i will be posting the rest of Part 1!

We have better chance of re-building Stonehenge than Fartton park being developed. Peter Storrie spouts out excuse after excuse about the development, What does he do for our club?

Why do you bother getting upset about it nelson? Its articles like this and other crap in the local press that start everyone rucking. I 4-1 couldn't give a shít mate. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. End of. Storrie only spouts excuses because the media keep asking him questions.

Agree with FEn. If the media and fans keep asking and moaning when they dont get an answer, what can Storrie do? its a lose lose situation. If it happens it happens, if it dont it dont... I am sure it will in the end, but why lose sleep over it.

I'm not upset FEn i'm expressing my thoughts on an article published on this site. Don't you get hacked off hearing PS spout of excuse after excuse. I'm happy with the stadium as it is, what other stadium has given an atmosphere equall to Fratton Park

With Doncaster and Plymouth yet to play Portsmouth took advantage to close the gap and extend it on the chasing pack. Newport & Leyton Orient look likely to be relegated.

Video - Pompey 2-1 Newport

With Stevenage drawing and Blackpool the only potential challenger winning we've got a six point cushion on Boro that's effectively seven given our superior goal difference.
