4 Top Class Signings *Exclusive*

4 Top Class Signings *Exclusive*

Amazing old news and some fantastic new news as Pompey have stepped up their search for quality players. There are some new stories in this article and some old news. All this information has come from a director within the club and/or a friend with links to the club. (We are expecting Peter Storrie to comment on these stories Monday!)

Portsmouth have apparently had a twelve million pound bid rejected for Jermain Defoe. Defoe is apparently unhappy at Tottenham but the demands of 15m will probably prove too much for Portsmouth.

Apparently Tony Adams will get the Pompey number two job however he is not the only one in the frame. Vital Pompey used a fake email address to apply for the post and the response was as follows;

"Portsmouth already have two final candidates, apologise for the delay."

I`m gutted! Tony Adams is thought to have spoke to Harry recently with the other thought to be Jamie Redknapp, although the club did not rule out the possibility of Paul Merson returning.

Portsmouth are thought to be hot on the trail of Sol Campbell although the players 40k wage demands may be a problem. Arsenal are expecting to receive an enquiry from Portsmouth this week although no deal will be done until after the world cup.

This is a "vital Pompey" exclusive! Portsmouth are fighting Charlton to get the player on loan from Chelsea. Portsmouth have already spoke to Shaun recently and the player is thought to be keen on the move.

Redknapp BBC Sport last week: 'Myself and Peter have met with a good player who we'd very much like to sign for a chat and hopefully we'll get something done there.

'I won't be naming him, but it just shows that we're trying to get things done here.'

Chelsea where originally going to let the player go on loan to Charlton as they owe them for a loan after Carlton Cole only served half of his loan deal. It is thought that Frank Lampard, of all people, tipped Harry off about the availability of the player. If this deal goes through along with the Sol and Defoe deal, ITS GOING TO BE EXCITING TIMES FOR THE CLUB!

BBC pundit and former England manager Graham Taylor told BBC Radio Five Live: 'If all this happens it will give a clear message to the Portsmouth supporters that says 'we really want to take this club forward."

I have more good news in my stadium investigation with the first edition this afternoon. (Rossi is also likely to join Charlton on Loan)

£12-15 mil is steep, but at the end of the day we would be signing an England international (lets face it he should have been chosen over Walcott) and we dont have many brit internationals in the team. it would send a clear message to most teams in the prem and the banter would commence. gettin the T.A. as 2nd man would also be good. not too sure about sol to be honest but we do need some beef at the back. SWP hasn't done anything for a year so i think like Mendes, Paramot and Davis he would need adequate training to get back into the groove ... who am i kidding! if we can bring zigic in as well then our attacking force might actually be alright! BRING IT ON!

I can't honestly see Pompey Tripling there transfer record for Defoe. Why would Defoe give up European football firstly to come to Pompey and why would Harry spend half his war chest of 30m on one player. We all need to calm down and be realistic

If you used a FAKE (as in unreal) e mail address, how did you get a reply?

Well said Nelson. It's more red herrings to take the press away from the real targets. TBH, Don't you find it strange that a player that H.R. & Peter have spoken to recently, but has not been named, that all of a sudden, Graham taylor is being quoted about it in BBC !! And everyone appears to know that it was frank lampard that told H.R. about it.
11/06/2006 20:50:00
I'll have Tony Adams though. I've said that ever since H.R. joined us, we've needed a decent coach for the defence. T.A. was one of the best there.
11/06/2006 21:00:00
I just want something to hurry up and happen. I have read so many rumours recently and now I just want something to happen. Tony Adams would be a great idea. Where do we sign?
11/06/2006 22:56:00
Tony Adams in his interview with Sky Sports seems very positive and very keen to join the club. A good defensive coach has been needed for a long time now.
