Kitson to be the top scorer!
'Dave Kitson will finish as Pompey's top scorer this season', not my vote, yours - although these findings from moley2's poll are thoughts that I would agree with...
Lets face it Kitson does not have much ground to make up on our top scorer; Nadir Ciftci isn't it with 2?
So, with that in mind and his ability to produce the goods at this level I would not be in the least bit surprised to see him finish as our top scorer - we MUST create the openings for him, and others, though.
That in itself is easier said than done...
My hopes are with his arrival, and 'hopefully' with the other 'arrivals', that still await football league approval, we will be able to switch to a 4-4-2 formation and give Kitson a partner and I do think that he and Nugent could work well together.
That said if Steve Cotterill continues with his 4-5-1 then I think with Kitson we could actually play this system with more joy as he does have the ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play - Nugent's first touch is poor so using him as the lone man just is not working. Yep, he works hard but sometimes this hard work is due to his own inability to hold up the ball making him chase his own errors.
Anyway, back to the point, Kitson to be our top scorer?
Yep, I will have some of that and would be surprised if he was not - bring on 'The Ginger Assassin!'

so now weve pinned all our hopes on a new ginger signing - hes now bound to fail! i dont care as long as we win games. if ashdown became our highest scorer i wouldnt care - but fair play to the lad if he did! lol.

I think that the reason Kitson was so desperately wanted was not only for his goal scoring, but more for his ability to hold the ball up and bring in other players, mainly Nugent. I didn't vote but I think the 11% who voted for Nugent may just have it right.

Pompey need goals and I don't think the manager will go 451 at home, I think he will go with the fashionable flexible 442- 433 depending on ball possession. My concern with this is the right side mid field. The arrival of Kitson also means that Uslaka could also move to his preferred mid field role, we are paying for him so we may as well play for him.

utaka - preferred midfield? I thought he was always vocal about being a forward?
To my mind Lawrence and Rocha and kitson are clever signigs:
Lawrence will make goals, Rochas makes the defence tick and Kitson as someone rightly pointed out will knit the forward line together and chip in with goals...
I honestly see nugent or a.n. other poacher getting the top tally this season.
