'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Its official - Kanu and Rocha John Rocha are back!

The wait is over, and our numbers have been increased by two, with Kanu and Rocha John Rocha officially confirmed as having signed new contracts - with both eligible to play tomorrow.

Kanu, who will of course keep his traditional no.27 shirt, has signed a 3-year contract - that compromise on the verbally agreed deal sees this. Although there is no mention of this it is 'thought' that this contract also enables him to move into a coaching role in the not to distant future...

As for Rocha John Rocha a return was, then was not, was and then was not again looking likely - although surprisingly, in some ways in the end, a return was all but concluded last week. This is also now officially the case, he has signed a 2-year contract and will wear shirt no.33.

On the returns of the experienced campaigners, Kanu is certainly as he is pushing mid 60s by now, Steve Cotterill told The Pompey Site: 'Ricardo's a very good character. I wasn't quite sure of his character because this signing has been on-off for such a long time but in my first meeting with him I could see he was a really nice man and a genuine man.

'He's a bit short of fitness but he's had a few tough days training with us now that he can only benefit from.

'Maybe we haven't got the mix quite right with Ibrahima Sonko and Aaron Mokoena. They're both out-and-out centre-halves where as Ricardo drops off and tidies things up.

'Having Kanu is a big boost for everyone. Everybody knows about King, so I don't have to describe him too much.

'It's great to have him. He's experienced and we've needed that person that can bring the rest of the team into play.

'We're delighted to finally have both of them on board - it's just been a long time coming.'

Finally it is good to get official, and hopefully undisputable, evidence that we have got another couple on board.

At this rate we 'might' even be able to field a full bench of subs tomorrow!

Now for the Liam Lawrence confirmation please...

Both players are class acts and con only enhance the squad tremendously. Now we need the workrate of Lawro - today please!! Why is Smith to QPR sorted and not Liam?

Although I worry about Cotterille's character just because of the unrestricted flow of drivel that he seems to speak; we call it " a cotterille" as in "doing a cotterille" . Still if he gets results!

more complex deal I can only imagine dave... given it involved a player swap and cash originally

Anymore news on the Lawrence deal yet? How come Smith to QPR went through and his hasn't?

2 good signings, Rocha looked good after a ropey start last season and the king has experience and skill in abundance.

We basically play 10 v 12. 11 of them + Sonko. Once Rocha comes in it finally becomes 11 v 11 :D PUP! Now just get Lawrence in please. Hes way better than Wilson cause i saw the Ireland vs Someone game where he started :P And almost all his balls ( foot ) Were perfect. If not all. Cmon!!! We could push for a play off once were set.

This is indeed good news, I think Kanu is starting to get past it a bit, So I assume at least a year of the 3 year contract will be as some sort of coach. he can definately still add something to a game, hes just so slow nowadays and that worrys me a bit. I think the Rocha deal is a good deal, I reckon partner him with Mok and let that develop again, shift Sonko out to one side, or defensive midfielder????? Who knows, lets hope the Lawro deal gets done soonish, still a very small squad, I would like to see another couple of senior players personally, it only takes a couple of bad injuries and we are straight in the cack again! Still small steps and all that!!! PUP
