Smith departs

There is a feeling of déjà vu as Tommy Smith has again been confirmed as having left the club...

The permanent transfer to QPR did not go through on time last week, so the deal - like the Liam Lawrence one with him coming to Pompey from Stoke - was left in doubt.

Although a loan deal, with him completing a permanent transfer in January, has been confirmed on The Pompey Site with a statement saying: 'QPR have completed the loan signing of Tommy Smith from Pompey.

'The 30-year-old has penned a deal which runs until the January transfer window.

'As part of the deal Smith will become a QPR player permanently on January 1 2011.

'Smith made 22 appearances for Pompey after signing from Watford in August 2009, scoring one goal.'

With the Smith deal now complete 'hopefully' the Lawrence deal can also be officially signed off as well...

Well said Jim! Where is Lawrence, and whilst we are on it, confirmation of Kanu and Rocha would be good as well.....oh and Noughton just to be cheeky.

22 games one goal tells a story. How many ex strikers have we had with that record. Thanks for the effort Tommy but sadly no end result.

What a farce the FL transfer system has become. Failure to meet the deadline = loan deals = transfers in January. Why can't the FL be lenient and let the transfers complete now?
