Bring in the loans...we need them!

'Our chances of survival in the championship this season 'probably' depend on us having some decent loan deals lined up following the closure of the transfer window', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pentonpompey's poll are thoughts that I would kind of agree with...

Despite losing Marlon Pack, Marc Wilson and Tommy Smith on deadline day the arrivals of Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence meant it was a 'decent' deadline day for us.

Oh, hang on, Lawrence's signing, and even Smith's departure, were not registered in time so quite what is happening with these remains in doubt...

Some players previously connected with this club are 'said' to be returning on a permanent basis, so these free agents - football league approval aside - 'look' like they are coming in to strengthen us, which will help.

Clearly we could do with some loanees coming in during the 'emergency loan' window, with it also 'said' we do have some lined up, yet all this is dependant on that football league approval again and perhaps having our transfer embargo lifted as our squad can still not go over 20 until this is the case.

In the meantime, depending on what does happen with the Lawrence and Smith deals and these returning free agents, we are not looking in that bad a shape, really - providing Steve Cotterill utilises the squad fully, including the youngsters that we have even if they are not 'good enough' as he keeps telling us!

At the end of the day you use what you have, and what we have 'should' be good enough to keep us in this league and that, for me, would make this season a success!

A couple of loanees, if possible, would not hurt though but we also have to be careful with the number of loanees...

  • What the poll asked - Deadline day gone; So what do you think of our chances now?

  • How you voted - I hope we have loans still lined up 59%
Good deals, something to build on 19%
    I give up 8%
Not sure, heads down and get on with it 7%
I cant see any hope 4%
Superb deals, Play offs here we come 3%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Northampton (h) - Securing home advantage?

Some could view this as a 'dead rubber!' It isn't as Champions Northampton will want to end on a high and Pompey will want 'an advantage' against Plymouth in the play-offs. Right?

    Pompey MotM at Hartlepool

Pompey went into the penultimate game with a slim chance of a top 3 finish. A 2-0 win at Hartlepool saw the Blues do what we needed but wins for others ended those chances.

    Jeepers keepers! Freebie options explored

An emergency loan arrival of a goalie has been ruled out by the Football League but this doesn't mean a free agent cannot be signed by Pompey should a suitable option be found?
