Smith close to QPR move/Lawrence rejects move

Tommy Smith, according to sky sports news, is close to joining QPR.

'Word on the street' had it that Dave Kitson was at Fratton although it looks as though Liam Lawrence has rejected the move.

So, as things stand we have loaned out Marlon Pack, are losing Marc Wilson and Tommy Smith.

That is 3 down, at least, with just the 1, Dave Kitson - at best - coming in...

This is scary stuff, at this rate we'll be kicked from the league because we won't be able to field a team! Can we still sign after the transfer window shuts if are squad is below 20?

Looks like you'll be playing the loan market. With your situation and squad side in mind... it doesn't look good.

Loan week starts next week, in the mean time SSN says Lawrence undecided; radio says he's hanging on for a deal elsewhere
    russellm
lawrence will sign, he is probably just seeing what options he has. loan Window opens before next game so no need to panic yet.
    Midge
NO NEED TO PANIC???????????????? Calm down Pike calm down!

Looks like we will be looking round every prem team for what we can get tomorrow after the squads are announced. Santa Cruz anyone?
    sneakay
This does not fill me with the greatest amount of confidence... although hopfully we will be able to get some good free's or loans soon
    Funky Liamo
Just been confirmed by SSN that the Lawrence situation has been sorted and the deal is about to become official
    jbaker
I've heard he wanted a get out clause if we get relegated, I'm pretty sure we'd sell him if we got relegated anyway!
    moley2
Selfish git, if he has a get out clause, what about us poor B£stards?
    pentonpompey
Harry redknapp the master wheeler dealer, well we've been left with U-slacker and No-good -ant..£14M worth and we can't give them away....I do not care about Smithy going, but these other two disapointments....hm..

we're totally screwed if that's the totality of our transfer window... totally and utterly screwed. Might as well go get a good young english manager to run us like the league one club we are. Anyone for John Barnes?
    jim4pompey
can't we offer Utaka AND Nugent if they dont take Smith?
    jim4pompey
Well it seems that the Wilson/Kitson/Lawrence deal has gone through, although its not 100% confirmed yet. Apparently, SSN said that the deal was held up because they didn't want to come to Pompey. Great! Two players who don't want to play for us, that's just what we need isn't it! Sigh. Still we'll see how they go I guess. I'm not sure if Smith has signed for QPR or not, and I think Nugent is staying. I'm sure Utaka's staying, who would want him?
    tracyc
    Pardew anybody?

Jim4pompey we have a good young english manager, unfortunately some people want miracles, forget John Barnes we need Jesus Christ! to make a silk purse out of the sows ears we've got.

Just playing devil's advocate Steve C, sadly, none of us really know the full extent of the *****e we are in and I am sure SC will do his level best. Whether that will be good enough, who knows. We need a massive boost, a bit of luck, the ball to go in their net off the ref's arse, ANYTHING! We do not need losing to become a habit. Hopefully, these two from Stoke will bring with them a little bit of savvy and instill a bit of confidence in our youngsters because they are fragile at the moment. I hope he has his eye on a few quality loanees in the O'Hara mould because we are desperately threadbare at the moment and we have some tough games coming up!

My didn't hear it comment was a light hearted reference to a line from Only Fools and Horses when Micky Pearce said that to somebody who said Pardon. You are right we are in desperate need of some quality in midfield Marc Wilson was the only one capable of providing a penetrating pass. I fear all the strikers in the world won't help us while the defence leaks like a sieve and nobody can give the strikers the ball. As fans all we can do is try and get behind the team and the manager and squeeze that little extra out of them. I feel for SC fans are already starting to question his ability and there is precious little he can do while the club is stuck in limbo, he has to sell players to pay the bills and is left to try and pick up any player desperate enough to join an uphill struggle. As a Pompey fan i'd jump on board without question if i weren't i'd be looking elsewhere first and end up at FP only as a last resort. Things will get better eventually but it's going to be slow until some cash is injected by a new owner.
    Steve C
I think Cotts is a good manager, loads of folks who i respect rate him.. the tranfers have not stopped yet, there will be a glut of loanees to our division inthe next week or two, sadly we will be low down the pecking order when you consider Leeds and clubs of their size and Kudos. we will reach the play offs/or league cp final...another Wembley trip in the offing
