Déjà vu with Nugent...

Déjà vu with Nugent...

This time last year Dave Nugent left Pompey in the closing stages of the transfer window, it was the summer and not January window, right?

It is 'possible' that this could happen again with Blackpool 'contracting Portsmouth about a move' for him and asking about his 'availability', well according to that famous phrase 'sky sports understands' anyway...

Whilst, in all honesty, I would have been happy with him moving on a few weeks ago despite his finishing being 'poor', to say the least, most of the time I cannot really fault his effort - although I still think that he expends too much unnecessary energy - and for that reason I would like him to stay.

Problem is, in all honesty, we cannot really afford him to do so can we!

Even less so as his contract ends at the end of the season meaning he will 'almost certainly' walk away on a free. Getting something now is better than nothing at the end of the season, and saving on his wages...

That said I honestly cannot see the benefits of letting him go out on loan as we would still end up paying most, if not all, of his wages and for what, a measly loan fee! It does not make sense from a football, and barely, financial viewpoint either.

Although Blackpool, in theory, is ideal geographically for him really.

Even so I kind of think that, as far as a permanent deal goes, it is irrelevant anyway as unless his wages are matched - and I cannot see Blackpool matching what we are paying him...

I do have to admit that I still have this feeling, despite his thoughts otherwise, that Nugent would not really think twice about moving on if he could - again though ONLY if his wages were matched, as said I cannot see Blackpool doing this and can see them looking only at a loan deal, which I hope we reject.

I ask that we PLEASE do not let him leave on loan though; this would NOT be a good deal at all! Well, as far as Portsmouth Football Club is concerned anyway.

hmm don't see it, why would we let him go with no chance to replace him and in such a bad situation player wise already. also i don't see why they want another striker when they've already got Harewood this window, but i'd be willing to swap lol

These matters tend not to be a surprise and i would not be surprised if a replacement is already planned. Given the recent inconsistent and hypocrical statements by the manager about I have been expecting this one and tbh if Pompey are paid enough and he's covered why not?

I expect to see Slaka given away to Blackburn or Bolton by 23.59 tomorrow.

i can see the nugent deal happening if they bid 1.5m and they can only offer him 15k a week maybe he will accept if we push him with a nice pay off say 300k or summin otherwise their is no chance we he will accept a pay cut when he can just leave for free next year and get double the wages... and a signing on fee
