With all the build up, the involvement, and then the fall out to the Pompey game against Reading at the weekend it may well have been noticed that we did not cover the news that The Pompey site has confirmed that Linvoy Primus has taken up a job with the club.
There was absolutely no disrespect at all meant towards Linvoy, I think that my admiration for the guy - like many hundreds, strike that thousands of others - is well known!
Linvoy was confirmed as the new 'head of club liaison', with this announced made on Saturday lunchtime.
This will see Linvoy work closely with the community to try to bring this, and the fans, closer together again, and he cannot wait to get on with the job: 'I'm really excited. As my title implies, I will be getting out and about liaising with the club, the community, the city, the staff, the players - the first team and the academy, the partners - everybody really.
'It's something I've already been doing to a large extent, but now it will be in a defined role and it's a position that is very purposeful at this time.
'It's going to be a varied job - no two days are going to be the same. It's going to be good.'
I have little, in fact no doubt, that Linvoy will do a fantastic job for himself, the club, the fans and the community and I cannot really think of a better person to do such a job, can you?
David Lampitt is under no illusion as to how well he feels that Linvoy will do this job, at a club he loves, and he added: 'we all know how much Linvoy loves this club and its supporters and, equally, how much he means to the community, so there was never a question in my mind as to his future at Portsmouth.
'He is wholly suited to this role and he will be a key figure - and a perfect ambassador - for us as we begin rebuilding the club.'
Again, as said, Linvoy will do a top class job for this club, and SHOULD have a job for life at Portsmouth Football Club! If he does not serious questions would need to be asked.
