'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Is there anyone you wouldn't 'love to play for?'

Well, apart from us it would seem as we have 'rarely' seen John Utaka do this in a Pompey shirt over the past few years!

I do not know what is winding me up more now, his 'performances' on the pitch or the ones of it?

I have lost track of the number of clubs Utaka has been 'linked' with, and from these 'links' the number that he has said he would 'love to play for' - the latest of which is Rangers...

Just a couple of days ago it was his 'desire' to stay in the premier league although now, as he told The Nigerian Tribune, he would 'love to play for Rangers' so he can 'showcase his talent' in the champions league: 'I have a couple of offers now and I would love to play for Rangers in the Scottish League because it will give me the opportunity to showcase my talent in the Champions League.

'It will give me the opportunity to show my detractors that I am not finished yet.

'Rangers is a good team that has won the title for the third time now, and I would love to associate myself with them.'

Wrong Johnny boy, with all due respect to Scottish football going up their and performing like a demon will prove nothing - just look at some of the names that have shone in Scotland, yet how many manage this in tougher leagues.

Sorry if this sounds disrespectful to Scottish football, or Rangers...

Although I reckon the Nigerian should face it, this move is NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!

He knows as well as I do if Rangers offered him half what he is picking up here at the moment he would be lucky. Dropping his wages to something like a 'mere' £14,000 per week is not going to happen - and in all honesty I am not convinced they would even pay him that.

This is a 'non-starter,' just like the previous 'links' to Scottish football with Celtic were, or any move anywhere for that matter, unless he is offered 'serious money'...

i dont know why all the pompey fans are saying get rid of him !! who would we replace him with !!?? i for one think we would have the quality and pace to bag 20 goals in the championship and unlike nugent he has more than 1 year left on his contract so why sell him now for as little as 1m when we could take a last gamble on him and if he starts banging in the goals in the championship and i think he could. Then his vaulue will rise and we could get upto 5m for him plus we could get the goals from him too..

hussler, the 'ability' is not something i doubt about utaka - i KNOW he has it but his attitude, application and just ability to be arsed are not there. it was highlighted in the premier league, whilst he 'should' have the quality to tear up the no power his lack of interest would see him torn apart, we need him gone - we have for a long time...
i could be wrong but i think his contract ends next summer too. nugent is on good money aswell but this guy is on £120,000 plus per month! unless anyone matches, or comes close to his wages he will stay.
i am tired of 'giving him chances', i have been doing this for what 3-years now and have rarely seen him deliver. i would not mind him being crap if he at least put in the effort!

i have to agree with rug on this one. i think most fans hussler would actually be content with having utaka at the club and im sure he could do a job in the chumps. but unfortunately every story we talk about is linked to money (or lack of it) and unfortunately that means the effort/goals per game/month/season in relation to salary paid im sure we could find a cheaper alternative from within the english league system - like another ritchie/smith/webber. remember pompey fans applaud effort and dislike lazyness. again, unfortunately we are not in a great position as a club - he says lots of offers are in for him but I wouldnt be suprised to see him playing this season because no one wants to pay to buy him then his wages.

Guys come on one last push for this Pompey Legend. He deserves so much more than 3000 ticket sales. Its not good enough. For the last 10 years has not just given everything for Portsmouth as a football club but also Portsmouth as a city. Anyone who is lucky enough to have met this guy would have experienced his warmth, friendlyness and charming personality. He indeed bleeds blue blood and therefore we should repay him with a cracking turnout tomorrow.
