Derbyshire a 'non-starter'

A 'mooted' move to Pompey for Matt Derbyshire has been 'dismissed'.

Kevin-Prince Boateng and cash, £2m by all accounts, would have been received from Olympiakos, plus Derbyshire thrown in, although The Mail is reporting that his agent has dismissed this as a 'non-starter'.

This is down to the fact that his wages would be twice what we are offering players, as a maximum, this season - so, from the looks of it he is on £20,000 per week. This, wages of that amount being dished out, aint never gonna happen with Pompey, or should not anyway, for a long, long time again, if ever again!

Ah well, it was a nice thought.

As things stand Boateng 'looks' as though he will be starting the season with us, maybe we should open a book on the first time he will go 'AWOL'...

Rug, no need to open a book, he is AWOL at present.

I honestly think SC is a good enough boss to get somrthing out of the players that he has...but boateng willsloop off cut price, and we will be left with Kids and "old no one else wants"...Derbyshire was never going to happen...he could go to Blackpool easier than come to us... my predicytion for this season is DERBY Co champions...we weill win the league cup...or get to play offs

maybe if we get a new owner the 10k limit will go up?? maybe 10k is the average if we have a few players on 3-5k we can have some star players on up to 20k but we would have to make sure these players are not old has beens and would have value to sell in the future not like ... lauren traore wetc etc..

how about boateng for £2m cash + olympiakos pay half of this reported £20k wage (i.e. we pay £10k, they pay £10k) for the duration of the agreed initial contract (say 3 years) ... that equals about £3.5m which I think is a good deal for both.

I hope that we get a new owner who runs the club properly and within the financial limits that we can afford. And that means someone who will keep things like the 10K limit. We don't want to go down the same road again - please not!
