Hartson Set For Pompey Talks
Celtic have given permission to John Hartson's agent to speak to other clubs regarding a possible transfer John.
He has been linked with moves to Pompey and West Brom. Although he may not leave!
'There has been a lot of media coverage and speculation with regards to John's situation at Celtic, but at the moment, John is not certain to leave the club,' confirmed Barnett in a statement on the club's official website.
'I was given permission several months ago by Celtic to speak to other clubs in relation to John. This has been done and certain clubs have expressed an interest to Celtic.'
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell added: 'We can confirm that a number of months ago, for various reasons, Jonathan Barnett was given permission to speak to other football clubs on John's behalf.
'This is something which Jonathan did and there has been a degree of interest.
'Over a number of years, John Hartson has been a great servant to Celtic and has made a fantastic contribution to the club.'
Hartson is thought to be talking to Portsmouth next Thursday for the third time with talks at an advanced stage.
In other news; Di Canio is rumoured to be coming in as Harry`s number two although this seems unlikely. (You will know who first here.)

I suppose I am slightly biased as I am a Rangers fan but I do look out for your results as I have family in your area and I would strong advise against signing Hartson. I see him playing every week in the spl and he is well past his best. With every month he is getting slower and his ball control and awareness are slowly withering aswel.

over the last few days my opinon of Hartson has been changed and now i just think he's a little too old to be put back into the Prem. I think we can aim for a better quality, younger striker.

Yes he doesn't look like our first choice, but who knows he may bang in a few. Past his best could still be enough to poach some goals. My girlfriend (A Rangers Fan) possibly doesn't want a Celtic player in our squad either...but then it will be of some interest if he nets a few....tartan trouble perhaps.

Lets just forget about Hartson. We have far better options than him. I would even prefer to bring in Lee Trundle than John Hartson. Zigic and Camara would be my first choices.
