Ben-Haim confusion?

There seem to be conflicting 'reports' on the status of Tal Ben-Haim and his move to West Ham?

I was under the impression that the deal had been all but completed last week? Not that any official word has been given as yet, has it?

Although it 'seems' that medicals, even though wages were agreed, were still to be completed - which they now are, and this is where the confusion is really beginning!

A report in The Daily Star 'claims' that he failed the medical so West Ham have dropped their interest in him despite him taking a '£7,500 pay cut on his £50,000 per week' we pay him. See, there again is another discrepancy on what we are 'meant' to be paying him? £38,000, which was already too much, has suddenly shot up to an even more incredible £50,000 in that papers eyes.

Whereas a report from Haaretz.com, Israeli based, 'claims' that these claims of a failed medical, in fact a couple of failed medicals - first report in The Jewish Chronicle - are wrong, and legal action is being threatened as a result.

They say the hold-up is actually due to a last minute technical hitch, about money I think?

So, at this point in time it seems that Ben-Haim is still with us and drawing his £38,000-£50,000 per week salary, whatever the amount is...

He could hardly justify £5,000 a week let alone 10 times that amount, he's rubbish!

Absolutely shocking, never impressed me, I suspect that he was playing well above his standard when at Bolton because he never really looked very good at Chelsea either, it was a shame we were suckered into signing him. Williamson would probably of been better value for money but lets not go there...

The club books said £38k per week but I guess there are appearance bonuses etc not to mention Peter Storrie's trips to Southern France - (but nowhere near Monaco where tax avoidance is alleged to have happened - no, no way definetly not ) that have to be paid for. It all adds up to £200,000 per month I'm sure.

are we still paying him at the moment?? or is he a free agent??

Also from the Times - Tal Ben-Haim's proposed move to West Ham and a reunion with former Portsmouth manager Avram Grant is on the verge of collapse after the defender failed a medical.

I heard the deal is in jeopardy because he won't role on Shabbos!
