But the discussions held inside about Pompey's £30m summer spending plans promise
to change the club forever.
Pompey's four most influential men meet in Israel on Sunday for talks
designed to transform the club from a struggling Premiership side into a
Harry Redknapp, Sacha Gaydamak, Peter Storrie and Milan Mandaric will spend 48 hours together determining Pompey's future. The club's commercial potential, youth set-up and new stadium will all be on the agenda.
But what will really matter is players - with Redknapp outlining his targets to co-owners Gaydamak and Mandaric and chief executive Storrie.
The indications are that Pompey's boss could be given in the region of £30m to work with, a figure including expenditure on transfers and wages.
Redknapp has assembled a list of more than 20 players for the five or six
places he wants to fill.
A pair of strikers, a midfielder, centre-half and full-back are the priority. Buying another keeper will also be considered at a meeting described by sources close to Gaydamak as a 'brainstorming session' between the club's top minds.
