'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Belhadj opts for the Qatari Riyal

There is nothing 'official' our end, on The Pompey Site, but Al Sadd are saying that Nadir Belhadj has joined them.

Al Sadd general secretary Jassim Al Rumaihi has said: 'the move of Belhadj to Al Sadd is really big as he will be a big addition to the team.

'We were planning to sign him a long time ago and we managed to conclude the deal with Portsmouth.

'Belhadj had a lot offers from European clubs but his desire to play with us helped us to make the deal.

'He will join us in our training camp in Italy and Austria before being presented to the media when we return to Doha.'

No doubt the 'desire' to play for Al Sadd was also helped by the Qatari Riyal on offer...

Thanks for the good times Billy, you gave us some 'bizarre' times but also some fantastic memories - all in all the good will certainly outweigh the bad for me when I look back on your Pompey days.

Whilst, as I sarcastically mentioned, I have little doubt that the money on offer to him helped make up his mind as long as it meant we DID get the best deal as a club too then I am happy with that. Talk of us getting a fee of around £3.5m is better than other 'reports' of what we would have got from other clubs, apparently.

£3.5 milllion! I would of said he was worth more than that! So that means we need Boateng to go for a lot to make up the £15 milllion financing from tranfers for the CVA?

We would have been happy for a combined £8m for Belhadj and KPB so it KPB goes for £4.5 then we got what we thought was fair.. Is he (belhadj) worth more than £3.5 .. nah I don't think so he hardly regulary set the premiership alight did he ?... Not at all sad to see hm go
Chix
Not sad to see him go under the circumstances of us needing money. If we could have kept him for 1 year in the Championship??? who knows, maybe he would have been brilliant, but for me, £3.5m is a good price, and he NEVER defected to West Ham like the back room boys. Good Luck Bellend :-)

I will miss his wing play, not to mention the odd cracking goal. Under grant he he became a commited player and even became a bit defensive minded. All that said Pompey need the money and the CVA needs to start being funded.

I like Russ will miss his cracking pace down the wing, he could have frightened a lot of defenders in the no power, however I do think that 3.5 was a little short, I would of thought, especially with the world cup he has had that closer to 4.5 would have been a fair amount

Farewell Billy and thanks for ripping the Scummers apart and the right foot rocket against the bin dippers. His 'defending' will always be remembered though.

I think 3.5mil was a good deal, a European club would have offered far less.
