'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Belhadj and Boateng's Lazio moves off?

'If' The Mail is right Pompey are playing hardball with Lazio, and WILL NOT be taken for mugs.

The 'reports' in The Mail are saying that Lazio's efforts to sign Nadir Belhadj 'appear' to have failed after the failure to agree a suitable enough deal for Billy and his Pompey teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng, who also looks 'set' to move elsewhere...

An £8m joint offer is 'said' to have been made for the Pompey pair, which was acceptable, although the fact that Lazio wanted to 'stagger payments' has 'thrown the deal into jeopardy.'

Apparently a better money offer has been made from a club in Qatar for Billy so we are going to try and get that deal done instead...

Boateng, who had a fantastic world cup for Ghana, 'could' be subjected to a 'bidding war' now if we are lucky as it is 'claimed' that other clubs are willing to better the £4.5m on the table from Lazio, with fellow Italian club Genoa 'believed' to be interested.

It is a shame that his tackle injured in the cup final injured Michael Ballack as there would have been plenty of interest from Germany otherwise, although the way I see it perhaps they should be thanking him! Injuring Ballack has brought young, fresher, fitter and arguably better players in as a result.

Both WILL move on but it does 'seem' as though Pompey really are not being taken for a ride with this transfer, which as much as we need deals to be done, is good to see - assuming these 'reports' are actually accurate...

As I said on the first posting the issue will be more about payment and sell on to fund the duration of the CVA than the out right price. I'm not sue that Abu Dhabi or another gulf club are that relevant here as these two have a real future and will want to prove themselves in a competitive league. With the I terest from Genoa pompey aren't restriced to Lazio's 2.5 mill now plus three further payments on games played. IF this story is true it would a departure from Pompey's standard tactic- surrender!

Id rather not sell em if they are not willing to pay the price we want.. they had pretty good world cups so value is unquestionable.
nodster
so long as their is other interest in them, even though we are not in a 'strong position' as such, this is good for us and we DO NOT have to be forced into a corner and accept the first offer on the table, as so often has happened with storrieteller and his 'wonderful dealings'...
pompeyrug
I think we can do better than the 8mil for the pair, it will probably work out better in the end.......unless Storrie is brokering the deal!
