Pack signs new deal with Pompey

Another of Pompey's young guns has committed his future to the club after signing the new 1-year contract that he was offered.

Pompey born Marlon Pack, who has been with the club for a decade, put pen to paper on a new contract on Thursday - now he is looking to make his breakthrough after gaining experience on loan with lower league sides last season, telling The Pompey Site: 'I've now been at the club 10 years so forcing my way into the first team has got to be in my thoughts now.

'I feel I have become a better player and learnt from my loan spells with both Wycombe and Dagenham.

'There is a new manager at the club now and we are going into a new season of football. Everyone starts as equals and I`m looking forward to the challenge.'

When he was on loan at Wycombe the Vital Wycombe ed sent through a couple of reports, which were promising enough so I look forward to seeing what sort of involvement the 19-year-old can have.

He was named on the bench a couple of times towards the end of last season, although he is yet to make his 1st team debut - I am sure this will come soon though.

For me the fact that he is a local lad means we have more chance of seeing a decent player as he will give everything if he is given the chance to pull on that blue shirt this season, and I think all of us would love to see yet another of the local lads given a go, right?

I know it means a lot to me when I see one of our own play for us, I sure as hell know it means a lot to them too!

i know it doesnt russ, i never said it did? but being local DOES make you more willing and able and you WOULD give that little extra, which i believe gives you a better chance of making it...
