Pompey's premier years - forwards

Pompey's premier years - forwards

The premier league years are done and dusted now, the second tier of English football awaits us again - not that it holds any fear for me, well many of us really as we have seen it, done it and warn the T-shirt before.

In some ways it is like 'going home' and I must say that part of me is really looking forward to this! I am sick to the back teeth of all the politics and money grabbing mercenaries of the top flight that we have seen, the prima donnas on show for many nations at the world cup this summer continue, for me, to show how the game has changed and where the power really lies.

Do not get me wrong these past 7-years or so as a premier league club have been special and have seen us witness some good, strike that very good footballers turn out for us as well as some, well, lets just say some not so good players...

Sadly most of these top class footballers could not wait to go when the chance came, but hey ho that is modern football for you!

Although who, for you, as we continue our selection process, have been 'the good, the bad and the down right ugly' in the forward department for us in the premier league years?

Leave some names, and thoughts on these players, below please guys then we can look at compiling a good and bad Pompey 11!

The more names put forward the better the battle can be for the good and the bad of Pompey's last 7-years...

REMEMBER: This is focusing on forwards ONLY at the moment.

Defoe, when he wasnt a whinging pouting ***** pot of a player, Crouchy, Yakubu was bloody awesome, Lua Lua was frustrating, but on his day was great (against Scum, 2 goals but WTF back flips) Benjani was a good croud pleaser, shame he couldnt slot the ball often enough!!! Andy cole was *****, hated him.

Smith staying at Northampton

Personally I wouldn't have thought Cook would have brought Smith back but even if the Pompey manager wanted this he couldn't under the terms of his Northampton loan.

Almost there...stay on target

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.

League Two 2016/17 Golden Boot Battle (27/3/17)

With most playing 39 League Two games in the 2016/17 season, this year could still see a few players break the 20 goal mark.
