Pompey's premier years - left midfielders

Pompey's premier years - left midfielders

The premier league years are done and dusted now, the second tier of English football awaits us again - not that it holds any fear for me, well many of us really as we have seen it, done it and warn the T-shirt before.

In some ways it is like 'going home' and I must say that part of me is really looking forward to this! I am sick to the back teeth of all the politics and money grabbing mercenaries of the top flight that we have seen, the prima donnas on show for many nations at the world cup this summer continue, for me, to show how the game has changed and where the power really lies.

Do not get me wrong these past 7-years or so as a premier league club have been special and have seen us witness some good, strike that very good footballers turn out for us as well as some, well, lets just say some not so good players...

Sadly most of these top class footballers could not wait to go when the chance came, but hey ho that is modern football for you!

Although who, for you, as we continue our selection process, have been 'the good, the bad and the down right ugly' in the left midfield department for us in the premier league years?

Leave some names, and thoughts on these players, below please guys then we can look at compiling a good and bad Pompey 11!

The more names put forward the better the battle can be for the good and the bad of Pompey's last 7-years...

REMEMBER: This is focusing on left midfielders ONLY at the moment.

Niko has to go as the best for me, even if he isn't a natural left midfielder, he did well especially in his early days.

could not disagree with Niko Kranjcar more. Totally over rated from the word go. Gave the ball away all the time, defenders got used to the same old cut inside trick that seemed to be the only thing he could do and as lazy as they come. Makes my blood boil just thinking about how he managed to get on the team sheet every week regardless of how completely useless he was. (been wanting to say that for some time) Definately Matty Taylor for me though. Love the guy to bits. Worked so hard for the shirt and his team mates and was gutted when Redcrap sold him on.

Matty Taylor and Niko could both be inspirational on their day, Robert was a cluster Fu**, he was very talented, and could play the game superbly, but like defoe he was a sulky whinging idiot

Milan Lalkovic has become Pompey's sixth signing of the summer. A compensation agreement with Walsall was agreed that has seen the former Chelsea winger join the Blues.

Solving that goalie quandary

I'm not sure our problem with finding a 'regular' no.1 last season was behind our failure to gain promotion from league two was it? Clearly it didn't help mind.

Pompey's attacking intent

Something Pompey (attacking intent) will look to show next season to get out of league two once and for all. Smith came in from Swindon last week but Cookie wants another striker.
