'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham confirmed for Linvoy's Testimonial

If anyone deserved a testimonial then it is Linvoy Primus.

We all knew that he WOULD be having one, and the 'rumours' that this would be Fulham had grown, we now know that they WILL be the opponents as this has been 100% confirmed.

To be honest I am a little 'confused' by this, as would Charlton, maybe even Barnet or Reading not have made more sense? Then again they might not have been available that weekend?

That said it does not matter who it is, Fratton will be packed to the rafters, I would hope, for a special man who has a special place in all Pompey fans' hearts.

I love the guy, I genuinely love him. I have had him as my forum avatar for the past God knows how many years and never once changed it. So, even if I have to crawl to make this, I will do this all the way from Devon!

More info, as issued on The Pompey Site, on this can be found below - ticket details are yet to be known though...

Fulham At Fratton For Linvoy Testimonial

Pompey will host Fulham at Fratton Park on Saturday, July 31 for a very special pre-season friendly.

The match, which will be the Blues' final pre-season fixture, will also double up as a testimonial for Linvoy Primus.

Kick-off is at 3pm, with ticket prices to be confirmed.

Linvoy is delighted to be welcoming the Europa League finalists to Fratton Park for what is sure to be an emotional occasion.

"It's fantastic that Fulham have agreed to come down for the game," said the former Pompey defender.

"I'm very grateful to them and to everyone who has been working so hard to make this happen.

"Because it's our last pre-season game, we obviously wanted to have good opposition for our preparations for the start of the league campaign the following weekend.

"Fulham were in the Europa League final last season and are a strong side, so it should be good.

"It's going to be a strange day for me, as it'll be not only acknowledging 10 years at Pompey but also the end of my playing career.

"In some ways it's like half-time of a football match for me now. My career started well, but then there was a bit of a low point when I was released by Charlton.

"It was followed by three good years at Barnet and three up-and-down years at Reading before finishing with 10 good years at Pompey. I guess it's a bit like getting a late goal before the break.

"Hopefully there will be a few more goals in the second half!"

Primus played 219 games and scored six goals in 10 seasons at Fratton Park after signing from Reading in 2000.

The Londoner was instrumental in Pompey's promotion to the top flight in 2003, winning the club's Player Of The Year award.

He remained a key fixture in the side as Pompey turned themselves into a top-10 Premier League outfit.

Primus retired last season after a long battle to overcome a knee injury, making his final appearance when coming off the bench to a rapturous Fratton Park reception in a 3-1 win over Sunderland in May last year.
