Embargo remaining is not a surprise really, is it?

Whilst the transfer embargo for Pompey remaining in place until mid July is FAR from ideal, can anyone, hand on heart, say that they are surprise by this?

Honestly!

Because I cannot say that I am.

I am not surprised at all, as until that 28-day period of appeal against the CVA approval passes we are, like it or not, still very much in administration and in limbo so it is just common sense, even if it might not seem that way to us, to keep this in place.

We clearly need to get something sorted out, and somehow manage to patch together a squad that is, first and foremost, capable of surviving in the no power championship, secondly one that could push on for comfortable midtable stability, thirdly, and in that ideal world, one that is capable of challenging for promotion.

To be honest, and I am not being negative of defeatist, my priority has always been the 'first and foremost' option - surviving in the championship.

Not being able to bring anyone in, from the looks of it, until at least July 15th is far from ideal as it is déjà vu all over again from last season, but with - most probably - even less quality remaining to build on.

Although this is the position that we are in so we have to 'deal with it' really.

Until we know 100% that the CVA approval has gone through without any challenge I cannot see how it can be justifiable to lift the transfer embargo really, can you?

What happens if an objection does come and this CVA is challenged - an embargo would again be placed, but what happens to the players we have signed or loaned in? Do we have to release or return them? I would also suspect that the other members of the league would have something to say about things...

As said this situation is far from ideal, and this means we CANNOT even re-sign the out-of-contract players we have offered new contracts, assuming they want to stay anyway? Not to mention actually register youngsters as 'professionals' as I understand it.

That said I am 'certain' that deals are being lined up and 'agreed in principle' all the time with players, loanees and free agents mind, that will come into action once the embargo is, hopefully, lifted with cast iron approval of the CVA and a new owner in place so it 'could' be worse I guess...

Flippen Heck! we really need to be able to buy and sell players ASAP.. Is there any chance we can get another 9pt penalty?

Not unless we're still in admin at the end of next season, nod.

We have known for ages that the FA AGM wasn't until mid July and without an owner we arent likely to get a lift of the embargo. The FA will want a letter of acceptance of the CVA from the new owner and the association is a shares club so they all have to approve and that can only happen by a motion proposal (fnar fnar) by the chairman at an AGM.

Surely whover is in the wings waiting to make a move knows that a deal needs to be done so that you club can move forward again. Admin Andy should be pushing ever harder as well for some answers and movement.
