Pompey's premier years - central defenders

Pompey's premier years - central defenders

The premier league years are done and dusted now, the second tier of English football awaits us again - not that it holds any fear for me, well many of us really as we have seen it, done it and warn the T-shirt before.

In some ways it is like 'going home' and I must say that part of me is really looking forward to this! I am sick to the back teeth of all the politics and money grabbing mercenaries of the top flight that we have seen, the prima donnas on show for many nations at the world cup this summer continue, for me, to show how the game has changed and where the power really lies.

Do not get me wrong these past 7-years or so as a premier league club have been special and have seen us witness some good, strike that very good footballers turn out for us as well as some, well, lets just say some not so good players...

Sadly most of these top class footballers could not wait to go when the chance came, but hey ho that is modern football for you!

Although who, for you, as we continue our selection process, have been 'the good, the bad and the down right ugly' in the central defensive department for us in the premier league years?

Leave some names, and thoughts on these players, below please guys then we can look at compiling a good and bad Pompey 11!

The more names put forward the better the battle can be for the good and the bad of Pompey's last 7-years...

REMEMBER: This is focusing on central defenders ONLY at the moment.

As much as I hate him now, Sol was pretty good alongside Distin. Worst CB I've seen was probably.....erm.... Wilson!

De Zeeuw was epic, sol and Distin worked very well together, Rocha has looked good and so has Mok in defence, certainly better than in midfield, Stefanovich for me doesnt rate in the good side or the bad, he was average...No doubt a good Pompey man though

No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

On this day in history...27th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 27th May.

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
