Pompey at the world cup - Kanu and Utaka

By the time Nigeria play this afternoon one Pompey player 'should' definitely have been confirmed as having left the world cup due to South Africa's elimination - another couple of the current Pompey lot 'could' be on the way home, wherever that will be next season, come 5pm this evening...

All or nothing for Kanu and Utaka

Despite suffering back-to-back defeats at the world cup so far Kanu and John Utaka do actually have a 'good chance' of sneaking into the 2nd round as the runners-up to Argentina!

You would not have thought that a country could lose their opening 2 games and still be VERY MUCH in with a shout of getting through, but Nigeria are.

Today 'could' prove Kanu's final on the international stage, not that he, or Utaka, has featured at all in the world cup yet, but victory over South Korea 'should' be enough to see The Super Eagles through. Currently Nigeria have a -2 goal difference to South Korea's -1, but they have 3pts to Nigeria's 0pts.

A victory will swing the goal difference in Nigeria's favour and 'assuming' Argentina beat a poor Greek side, currently on -1 goal difference, which they should, that would see the African's become - assuming South Africa did not pull off that miracle earlier - the first African nation to make it into the 2nd round so far.

Will Kanu and/or Utaka play a part though, and will their part, or their teammates' parts be enough to keep Nigeria's world cup dreams alive...

What do you think guys?

I think the super eagles will go through and in terms if entertainment that's probably a good thing

Kanu is finished and another season robbing a living off us would be a disgrace. Utaka needs to go as well, as we look to the future. The African threat at the World Cup looks to have been extinguished which i am suprised about, it looks like the South Americans will dominate.
