Pompey at the world cup - Kanu

Pompey at the world cup - Kanu

Two of Pompey's players, although how long this will remain the case remains to be seen, look to have moved a step closer to elimination from the world cup after Nigeria tasted defeat against Greece yesterday.

The King's reign is over?

Kanu's international career with Nigeria looks to be going out with a whimper, as opposed to the 'bang' that he predicted as the African nation look odds on to be eliminated from the world cup next week following a second defeat in as many games when Greece came from behind to beat them 2-1 yesterday.

Kanu, allegedly the Nigerian captain, has yet to play a single minute at the world cup after he again remained on the bench, along with big bag John Utaka.

Utaka has also failed to have a look-in so far - this does little to help us in our efforts to offload 'The Torpedo'...

Nigeria will need to beat South Korea in their final group game to have any chance of going through, although even a win will 'probably' not be enough to save The Super Eagles.

'maybe' i was being alittle hasty on nigeria's chances? as has been pointed out to me 'if' they beat south korea that 'should' get them through as a goal difference of -2 compared to south korea's -1 isnt that hard to overcome, especially as the argies WILL beat a poor greek side...
so, maybe the king isnt done on the world stage yet, if he gets on!

Kanu isn't good anymore to play at International level, such as a world cup. Sorry, but that is how it is!

    No repeat performance

Should Dion Donohue step out of line again it could be his last. The former Chesterfield man saw red for kicking out at Doncaster's Niall Mason.

    Here's to the next century

Conor Chaplin racked up his 100th appearance for Pompey in Tuesday when he marked his return from injury with a place on the bench - coming on at half time in the defeat at Doncaster.

    Poor start proves costly

Pompey went to the Keepmoat Stadium looking to extend the unbeaten run but a disastrous opening five minutes put paid to that as Doncaster ran out 2-1 winners on Tuesday.
