'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Billy said bring in Jamo, most agree

England play Algeria at the world cup tomorrow and this 'could', in fact in many cases 'should' bring together some current, and former Pompey teammates.

There a plenty of former Pompey players involved in the England squad, David James is a current one though - although will he play against Algeria though?

To be honest as much as I think he SHOULD be the no.1 I do not think he will be...

Nadir Belhadj is a dead cert to be a part of the Algeria team, and he is also - for the time being - a Pompey player of course, another former player is ex loanee Hassan Yebda, who did play in their opening game on Sunday.

Belhadj had recently told the media that he felt James should be the England no.1, and not just off the back of the mistake by Rob Green last weekend - as said I agree with him, yet still do not think that Jamo will get this chance.

He is not alone though, as a recent poll showed...

  • What the poll asked - Will Capello stick with Green or bring in Jamo?

  • How you voted - Bring in Jamo 84%
Stick with Green, and rightly so 15%
Neither, Hart will come in 1%

Once again I did not think that Green should have been the no.1 anyway, and had felt a mistake was waiting to happen. Yet having selected the West Ham man as his keeper I cannot see how Fabio Capello can, or even will, now change this to be honest.

I suspect that doubts over Jamo's fitness are the ONLY reason he was not selected in the first place, by dropping Green and bringing in our keeper what happens if he does 'break down' again? Capello would either need to go back to Green, most probably a broken man by that point, or turn to the fantastic, yet inexperienced, Joe Hart who 'might' crumble under the pressure too...

In many ways Capello is in a no win situation, the only real way out that I see is sticking with Green and 'hoping' that this setback really rocks him and does something to inspire him for the rest of the tournament - the easiest way out would have been not to start with him against America, but hey ho!

I voted to bring Jamo back but if given the option I would have voted for " should bring back Jamo but Capello will probably stick with Green"

I have my fingers crossed for this too, I really hope Jamo gets to play and has a blinder!

Jamo really should play, and I really hope he does, but it wouldn't surprise me that much if Fabio sticks with Green, wanting to keep the faith in him. If it had been Jamo who had f*d up I would hope that he would do that tbh - so we'll have to wait and hope. If he starts with Hart I will be livid though! (can't see it.)

We went to Africa with an unsettled team, some players with suspect fitness and an undecided side, watch Algeria put some past whoever is in goal.

Wrong about the goals, right about the side.
