League cup, who do you want?

League cup, who do you want?

The draw for the league cup 1st round takes place tomorrow morning - the npower league fixtures are also out this week, on Thursday, not that we can share them with you due to 'data co' rules preventing this unless we part with money for the privilege of listing the fixtures...

It is almost 10-years since we had to enter the league cup in the 1st round, although we do so as one of the 'seeded' teams this time round in the southern half of the draw.

We will face one of the following 20 teams:

Yeovil
Leyton Orient
Exeter
Notts County
Bournemouth
Dagenham & Redbridge
Gillingham
Wycombe
Southend
Aldershot
Port Vale
Northampton
Shrewsbury
Burton Albion
Hereford
Torquay
Barnet
Cheltenham
Stevenage
Oxford

A number of these sides appeal to me. Richie, Ken and myself have all said we fancied a cup trip to Burton or Dagenham this season, so this is a chance - that said, from a travelling point of view for me Exeter or Torquay away (well home for me) are ideal, assuming this fixture does not see us at Fratton and also does not come after a home league game, as I would be in Pompey anyway!

So, who, if anyone, would you prefer us to draw? Or do you simply not care who it is?

Could this be a cup whereby we get a shot at our beloved friends in blue in a round or two? I am drooling already with the anticipation. Please let us both keep winning til;l we can meet again.

Hm . . wonder why SFC's lot aren't in our part of the draw? Quite fancy a trip along the coast to somewhere like Bournemouth/ Exeter/Torquay. Anyone know when the match will be played?

Davies to Tranmere as Blues close in on Thompson?

With Burgess, Clarke and Whatmough ahead of him Davies' chances at Pompey are limited, especially if Swindon's Thompson completes move to Fratton Park - Davies could join Tranmere?
