Pompey at the world cup - Aaron Mokoena

Good luck Mokoena

Today is the day guys, the 'greatest show on earth' begins as the world cup kicks-off, remember to follow this with us over on Vital England - here.

Many of us, well in fact all of us, will be delighted to have a WHOLE month of football with us able to watch up to 3 games per day for at least a couple of weeks, woo hoo!

The opening game will include none other than our very own, although how long this remains the case remains to be seen, Aaron Mokoena - who is of course the South African captain.

Moko had not always been a favourite at Fratton has he, although we all know he has turned this around to become this fans favourite in the end so, in all honesty, none of us want him to leave now do we.

Of course I am England through and through and will be hoping and praying that we can do it but I think South Africa will be my 'second team', not only because of Moko but also because they are the host nation - for me it will be better for the tournament as a whole if South Africa do well, so I will be hoping that they can get off to a good start today and I reckon they will beat Mexico.

The world cup begins today, and with it of course the Pompey interest too - so good luck Moko...

South Africa 1-0 Mexico. Good luck Mokoena and co., from Malta!

Mokoena in the 90th minute coming up for a corner and heading past the helpless keeper, like he did against coventry, 1-0 South Africa. Go on Mokoena!

I thought that Mexico looked quite good going forward in the recent friendly against England. I think that Moko could be in for a busy time. Assuming that we can afford his wages, I wouldn't mind SA and Moko having a bad WC.

A great honour to captain your country in a World Cup and when it is the first in Africa even greater. Should he score the first goal he would join Papa Bouba Diop who scored the first in 2002.

that was the game FIFA experimented with the 55ft high goals.

SAF put on a good show this afternoon and but for the post would have snatched it at the end.

I can't help but root for the Rainbow Nation - second to England of course. Pity they drew, but cracking goal! . . . Who needs a Messi when you've got a Mokoena? Hey Mokoena!!

i thought moko had a decent game, altho the south african defence paid the price for going missing one too many times in the end...tbh a draw was probably a fair result.

I think your right RUG, a draw was probably a fair result, MOK had an okay game, not as mighty as he has been for us of late, but never mind, that group looks quite interesting now with four draws marked up!!!!!
