Boateng makes Ghana's 23

While Kevin-Prince Boateng is not going to remain a Pompey player for much longer, and chances are he will be sold by the time the world cup starts, fact remains that he is and he has been named in the 23-man Ghana squad as one of our own.

This means that the German born, who played for Germany up U21 level, remains on a collision course to face the country of his birth on June 23rd.

To add extra spice to an already spicy affair - following the war of words after the injury sustained by German captain Michael Ballack, which ruled him out of the world cup, following a challenge from Boateng in the cup final - Boateng could face his half brother Jerome, who is in the Germany squad.

Former Pompey midfielder Sulley Muntari and loanee winger Quincy have also made the squad.

Squad in full:

Goalkeepers:Richard Kingson, Daniel Agyei, Stephen Aholu.

Defenders: John Pantsil, John Mensah, Samuel Inkoom, Hans Adu Sarpei, Rahim Ayew, Lee Addy, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah.

Midfielders: Kwadwo Asamoah, Anthony Annan, Sulley Muntari, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Stephen Appiah, Andre Ayew, Derek Boateng.

Strikers: Asamoah Gyan, Prince Tagoe, Dominic Adiyiah, Matthew Amoah.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who was a Pompey player at the end of this season counts as a Pompey player for the world cup - transferred or not.

What odds can you get on him surviving the game against Germany? Note to Admin Andy - Sell him before the kick-off please.
blueexile
totally, yep he could have a blinding world cup and see his value sky rocket, but he could also have a stinker and see it drop below freezing - there is also the worry he, or others that we want to offload, could get injured...

Just don't let him take a penalty that matters. The Germans no doubt will machine gun him down if he plays against them. Public enemy number 1.
