Next Pompey manager? A N Other or James please...

'I would prefer 'AN Other' as Pompey's next manager', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I just do not know what to make of to be honest...

The names in the poll, were the ones 'linked', albeit by the media at the time, but it appears that other than David James none of these are really appealing to anyone?

I cannot say that any name is really jumping up and down and shouting 'pick me, pick me', then again as I keep saying I cannot see HOW we can appoint a new manager until we know the outcome of the CVA, and who our owner will be - out of Rob Lloyd's lot, which is doubtful, or Balram Chainrai, which is almost 'nailed on' for me...

It just does not seem 'feasible' that we can appoint a new manager until we know the outcome of the CVA and actually have an owner in place.

Part of me wants James, as I really think we need to keep the guy next season - the 10-20pts that he would save us could make all the difference, and a player-manager role gives us more chance. Although 'if' it all ended in tears we not only lose our manager but also a player, as how could he then revert to being a player again? A player-coach position seems ideal?

A 'new name' entering the fray today is Paul Ince, please God NO! Then again Brendon 'I am desperate to work again' Rodgers fills me with little more optimism than 'The Guv'nor' to be honest.

Although Steve Cotterill will become the 'odds on favourite' now, due to the fact that he has left Notts County. Plymouth 'Green Army' Argyle are also 'interested' though, and despite being a league one club, and not without their problems too, can offer more stability and an instant job.

Whatever, I would not expect a 'quick appointment', then again with Pompey anything is possible!

  • What the poll asked - Who do YOU want as our next manager?

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

From an outsider point of view and that is all it is... I think you could do a lot worst than Southgate. Also i think Phil Parkinson Would be an excellent shout as he is a great up and coming manager.

I'm still in favour of Steve Coppell, brilliant manager with limited resources.

Steve Cotteril has left Notts County today, haven't you been linked with him?

Steve Cotterill would be my choice but I still feel the new owner should decide. Not sure this cva is sorted as I am convinced HMRC won't agree to 20p in the £.

Tbf to Ince apart from one stint he hasn't done badly but Cotterill would probabl be my favourite, but it should be the new Ch Ex who hires and fires and it will no doubt be CVA dependant. I would have even accepted scum spudface. Either way Jamo has to have a role in coaching.

All the C's for Me ! Cotterill, Coppell or if push comes to shove, Curbishley. I wish Jamo all the best with his managerial career, but too soon for him and more importantly US! We've been there with Adams, but happy for him to be a coach/no.2!

Always have said curbs even b4 adams, has the experience, and was very unlucky at w ham. We would probably be too much hassle tho for him to take on. If Cotterill gave up on Notts County because of their budget then we have NIL chance of getting him!
