Will he stay or will he go? #18 Vanden Borre

Will he stay or will he go? #18 Vanden Borre

Introduction

To be honest with you none of us really know what to expect this summer do we? We can only 'hope' that this or that will happen, so we only really have hope, right?

Clearly our priority is to see us taken over, and by someone who will hopefully 'do right by us!' Granted this will be a businessman or businessmen who WILL want some return on this investment, that is football for you! But they do not need to fleece us for all they can!

All in all, like I say, this is going to, in many ways basically be 'guess work' and maybe some will be more ruled by the heart more than the head, also A LOT will depend on things such as Uncle Avram staying or not I guess...

#18 Anthony Vanden Borre

An international signing, albeit on loan, was a good bit of news for us in pre-season at a time we did not receive much good news. Although the questioning of his international status soon came as he started off looking semi-professional at best!

The guy has really came back strong over the 2nd half of the season and proved his quality, with him being fantastic since the turn of the year - bar his needless sending off against Blackburn.

Will he stay or will he go?

Go, which I think is a real shame...

When Anthony Vanden Borre's loan ends, which it technically has now, he will return to Genoa although I would not expect him to stay with the Italian outfit for long.

Then again if he has managed to impress them during his loan with us you can never say never - although I would expect other clubs have noticed him too...

I would be delighted to see him return next season as he looks the part now, but even if we could find the money, which I doubt we can - even though we would not be talking 'the earth' - I would expect other clubs throughout Europe to be interested in him too.

With a transfer embargo 'set' to stay in place until mind June, at least, the arrivals of anyone, even possible freebies let alone players that would cost even minimal amounts, seems a million miles off...

Sadly I think he's gone, a bit injury prone but he showed real promise and an ability to survive in this league; someone will have noticed.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
