Formal approach for uefa licence made

The latest sky sports news 'breaking news' segment says that we have now made a formal approach to the FA for a uefa license to take part in the Europa league next season.

This, judged on previous statements issued from the FA - and the premier league - seems destined for failure though...

Despite us doing what we had to, on-the-field, to earn this right it seems, as said, something that is destined for failure - I would say even more so given the fact that our participation in the Europa league would mean Liverpool would miss out, as they finished in 7th place in the league.

For me the premier league should have NO say on this matter, but their muscle would be flexed as they could not have one of their 'golden teams' miss out on Europe altogether could they...

Scandalous that Liverpool get that slot ! It should be to the next in line of the FA Cup if not us. We won't be able to compete in Europa league but the bin dippers should be out!!! PUP

it is the FAs to take or give, and I just can't see them giving it to us. we missed the deadline, and it's not in there intrest to bend the rules for us.

PC is right, whether we agree with them or not the rules are there. Apart from that, I don't know if it would be our best interests to compete in Europe until the club and the team are sorted out and working well as a cohesive unit. But I must admit, playing against foreign opposition would be attractive to us as fans.

The FA is controlled by the PL; according to previous FA directors so it's not likely the decision will be overturned. The positive here is that the club must believe they will be on a sound financial footing to even have applied.

i honestly agree that we should NOT e entitled to the European slot..weve gone bust..full stop. shame for us the fans, but so is administration and relegation

For the nails that all the officials have banged into our coffin & wonderful as it would to have european football again, I can't see them all backing us.

I don't think we should play in europe next season or any other for that matter until the club is sorted out on and off the pitch. What I do find scandalous though is that it allows Liverpool in, which in my opinion is just rewarding a team for not being good enough to qualify off their own back. With the team they have it's their own fault they were crap this season and didn't qualify, but I'm sure the Premier League and FA would have found a way to get them into europe next season even it it wasn't 7th place!

If this is true and we have made our formal approach, then I dont see how? Wouldnt a CVA have to be in place, fully agreed, because part of this license is showing proof of being able to afford to go to europe, does this mean talks to buy the club are further on than we thought? On a personal note, I dont think we should be fighting for this at all, Im sure going to Europe would be great, but I think our focus should be the league next season. PTID
