'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will he stay or will he go? #7 The Herminator

Introduction

To be honest with you none of us really know what to expect this summer do we? We can only 'hope' that this or that will happen, so we only really have hope, right?

Clearly our priority is to see us taken over, and by someone who will hopefully 'do right by us!' Granted this will be a businessman or businessmen who WILL want some return on this investment, that is football for you! But they do not need to fleece us for all they can!

All in all, like I say, this is going to, in many ways basically be 'guess work' and maybe some will be more ruled by the heart more than the head, also A LOT will depend on things such as Uncle Avram staying or not I guess...

#7 The Herminator

A real fans favourite, loved by all for his never say die attitude, effort and commitment.

All of our players have, on the whole to be fair, deserved a crack at a place in the cup final squad yet the fact that The Herminator will miss this due to his Achilles injury - which could still end his career? - is cruel on him, and us really.

Yep the guy is knocking on a bit but, so long as he can recover from his career threatening injury, you cannot help but think there is life in this old dog yet!

Will he stay or will he go?

Unsure. Fitness permitting I would hope to keep him...

He would, despite his age, be one of the first offered a new contract if it were up to me although the fact that he is a high earner and facing a long-term recovery schedule from this injury, with there being no assurances that he will recover, as much as I would like a new deal offered to the guy we simple cannot take any risks in our position can we?

Although some reports have 'claimed' that he has technically played the amount of games needed to trigger a new contract - if that is the case then I would hope, and feel it would be the case, that The Herminator will think long and hard before he actually made us honour this.

It is vital that we make sure his conditioning is right before we put a contract in front of him, on reduced wages or not though.

So, it is best for all concerned for him to work on his recovery and us to make sure we are getting what we will be paying for - there is no need for anyone to rush into anything.

He's just the sort of player we need, especiaaly if we want to get out of the Championship.

Herman will stay if it is at all possible for him to do so, but until someone buys the club, that is probably not going to happen. He would be awesome for us in the Championship though!

My head says age, wages & fitness all count against him. Sign him up on a pay per play deal. We cannot afford his current wages, I would guess this would reduce our liablilty if he does have a career ending injury. My heart says sign him up, his motivational leadership in the dressing room would be fantastic.

Sorry Herman but its time too move on what with injures and age.
fatbloke
I agree with lemmi and NZ we need players like Hermann to get out of that league.
eastneydave
I'm thinking we might well need Herm to stay in the league but either way he stays!
Pompeyscum
I would love him to stay! he has the grit that is needed to win in the Champs
