James makes the England 30

James makes the England 30

As, lets face it, we would have expected really David James has made Fabio Capello's squad for the world cup.

Although 'technically' he is only part of the 'provisional squad', but as Capello has only named the 3 keepers his place, all being well, in the final 23-man squad looks pretty safe.

Clearly our priority is the FA cup final at the moment but mine, like so many others', attention will soon be turning to the world cup and I hope to see James involved - ideally as the no.1, which I think he is!

All in all there were on major 'surprises' though, these were all pretty much made clear in the run up to today's announcement. So here is the 30:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock

Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips

Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney

What, no place up front for 'Super Dave', why ever not...

I agree with you about Jamo, Rug. I think the forwards are also picked, although he might leave one behind. I'll see you on Vital England (is that a groan I hear...)

Have to agree Rug, He has to be the best English keeper in England at the moment, rarely does he give Calamity displays anymore, more often than not he has saved us our blushes this year, I like you think he will be number one, and good luck to him, he deserves it!!!

For me, he's perfect for England at the moment - bags of experience, great style, fit as a fiddle. Just the sort of player the nation can get behind.

A joke there are better Keepers around than James, makes too many errors, and is injury prone. Not in the top 5

well, the more of you i see over on vital england the better!

Tiny, i will give you that...at a push, and i mean a REAL push if we were talking about the top 5 in the premier league as 'some' would argue he is behind cech, reina, given, van der sar, erm, maybe just those 4 so - biased views aside - for me he is in the top 5 keepers fullstop, let alone top 5 english!
