Grant favourite for West Ham job and more

Grant favourite for West Ham job and more

Uncle Avram has been installed as the bookies favourite, with Sky Bet, to become the next West Ham manager - following Gianfranco Zola's sacking today...

His odds have been 'slashed' from 5/1 to 1/4 odds on favourite.

Uncle Avram continues to make noises that he does want to stay at Pompey but a lot depends on the off-the-field issues being clarified, which is, lets face it fair enough - I totally understand, and appreciate this way of thinking.

All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that he does not move on, but 'should' the West Ham job be offered to him he 'might' find it hard to say no to this, well he would find it hard to leave us, but his decision is made easier with the continued uncertainty surrounding the club...

Someone that will, without a doubt, soon be leaving Pompey is Aruna Dindane. Quite where he will end up remains to be seen though.

A medical has taken place with Blackburn, but 'reports' today - if they are not 'rehashed' or 'reused' are 'claiming' that an official approach from Wolves has been made to Lens and they hope to 'thrash out' a deal before the world cup.

Panathinaikos and a team from Qatar, who would offer big money, are also 'said' to be interested, although his desire to stay in England makes Wolves or Blackburn more likely...

A place in the cup final squad is not looking so likely now though as he is one of several key players that is facing a race against time to be fit for the weekend!

And in 'other news', as lets face it as important as this is it does not deserve 'top billing' as we are all so fed up with 'rumours, Roy Lloyd's consortium are going to 'make a decision by the end of the week' about launching a takeover bid or not following further talks with the administrators on Monday, talks are 'continuing' today and tomorrow...

It is also 'said' that our official approach for an application to play in Europe next season is 'imminent' - the application for the uefa licence will be made 'in days' according to The News.

To be honest, there is nothing unexpected there. Avram was being linked to the job before zola was sacked, Dindance has always been leaving, wolves have aparantly been intrested for a while, and rob lloyd...

I've said in the past that I think Avram will move on as I do not see the ownership issue being resolved anytime soon. Also still believe that Chanrai will retain the club. Good Luck to Avram if he does leave. As for Rob Llloyd I think there's a clash of images between him and AA as they both fight for column inches in the press. Any man/group that needs this much limelight will not have the best interests of the club at heart. Rob Lloyd step forward and prove me wrong!

It seems according to some financial press the Lloyd bid was based on a lower CVA agreement (15-18 p) so I guess they must decide if they have the additional funding. I'm sure the group do but if an extra £5m is going to break their bank then how much capital can they access, any Champs team, training facility or perish the thought stadium upgrade would cost much more than that.

Carpet has put it in a nutshell. Now let's wait for the rumours to subside and then we can discuss facts.

As for Avram being no.1 in bookies odds, well thats not surprising as they have to hinge their odds on likely betting patterns. Most people will read the press for 6 months, see us religated, see Zola go and assume its a done deal. they have to make him favourite or stand to lose too much if it were to come true. I personally think he Will stay at pompey and Hughes will go to west ham.
