Many clearing out, which we knew, right?

Many clearing out, which we knew, right?

Our problems are going to be ongoing, and we have a long road ahead of us, a road that will see - as we are all well aware - MANY departures this summer, once again.

Admin Andy has told The News, well 'promised', that a 'massive clearout' will happen this summer - 'fresh contracts' are being negotiated with some players but with more than a dozen out of contract or seeing their loans end few of these will be retained.

This is something that I plan to 'try' to look at a little more in details with my own thoughts, so will not really say much more on this issue at the moment, apart from the fact I at least take some 'encouragement' from the fact that, if this can be believed, it is not necessarily going to be a case of 'out of contract out the door,' some talks will at least take place on reduced wage contracts.

It is not just 'out of contract' or 'end of loan' players that will be moving on, as we know everyone has a price, so anyone that has an offer made for them will probably go - West Ham are the latest side 'linked' with one of our players today with 'reports' saying they are interested in a 'cut-price' deal for Kevin-Prince Boateng.

While I have little doubt Boateng will leave, and in many ways I am not overly disappointed by this - even though he has obvious ability - I am not convinced by the West Ham 'rumours'. Put it this way it is far from certain that Gianfranco Zola will be their manager next season so who is making the 'decisions' on these various players they are 'meant' to be looking to sign?

Either way, whatever is best for the club must be done - getting high earners off the wage bill is a must, but accepting pittance for players that are worth more than we would get is not really going to help the club or creditors is it...

No rocket science here. We will need to build a new squad for next season!!! That's why so many clubs go down again because they have to totally rebuild. We will play a lot of clubs with a good stable team base that will hit the deck running come August. If we get a huge penalty points deduction we will scrapping to stay up!!! Chix you're in goal mate. Rug you're left midfield.

I have to say I was a little irritated by the comments made by Herman's agent yesterday regarding a new contract. Don't get me wrong if he's fit and ready to play next season then I would love to retain him, he's one of the few players who I think embodies the pompey spirit. But to be coming out saying he should be offered a new contract now despite the fact that he's not likely to be fit until Nov/Dec and for a club currently in administration I thought was a stupid thing to say. Keep him on a retainer or month to month cheap contract, pay his medical bills and once he proves himself ready to play first team football again then offer him a proper contract.

Quite frankly we wouldn't miss most of what we have, i don't see many signing until our points deduction fate is known, who wants to sign for what's will be almost certain relegation fodder. As for tearing up contracts it's not quite that easy, the player has PFA protection and rightly or wrongly if said player doesn't want to leave or renegotiate his contract, Admins point of view is of no importance.

Of course we're going to have to lose players, but there's still a possiblity of new owners coming in (isnt there?) and they will decide who the manager is and what players we're in a position to buy/keep. If we don't get new owners in, we're screwed, so it's all irrelevant anyway.

If Jamo is a free agent and is happy to stay, then discussion should be held with him, it shouldn't be an automatic given that he has to go as reported.

Has anyone kept a time-line on AAs utterings? CVA agreed, new owners in place, player transfers, points deduction etc. etc. I can't believe now in anything he comes out with. I remember some (I think) Swindon supporters warning us about AA.
