Cup final - no go for Dindane, colours confirmed

Lens yesterday granted Pompey permission for Aruna Dindane to play in the FA cup final for us as they felt 'it would be a good showpiece platform for him to get a move.'

Although this offer has been rejected!

Admin Andy had issued 'a 'take-it-or-leave-it' offer' to the French club, who were only willing to let him play this 1 game, whereas in order to keep up his match fitness the club wanted to be available to play the games in-between.

He, Admin Andy, says that he 'can't afford much more time on this one' so this is the end of the matter even though he does think Dindane 'deserves' to play in this game but feels that the 'chances are decreasing.'

I do feel sorry for the guy, even if in many ways I did not think we would miss him 'that much' if he could not have played in the semi final - although he did have a good game, so it would be a shame to not at least have him as an option for the final, but what can you do?

Whilst it is clauses similar to this one with him that have got us into so much trouble - among other things! - if a £4m payment was agreed after so many games there is not really a lot that we can do is there.

To be fair we cannot really moan at the likes of Boro for their stance on Gary O'Neil on one hand then bemoan that of Lens on the other can we really!

It is a shame for the guy but you could also argue, even with the match fitness he would drop in-between, would it 'really' be fair on others if he sat out the next month of 1st team football then returned to take a place in the cup final...

So, the Ivory Coast internationals cup dreams seem to be over...déjà vu anyone!

Another thing that we found out yesterday was, that for the first time in our 'Wembley history' we WILL NOT be wearing our blue shirts!

Chelski won the kit toss for this so we will wear our white away shirt for the showpiece event on May 15th. Although we DO have the same changing room and will, as fans, have the same end of the stadium again.

There are a few 'rumours' going around that Kappa 'could' produce another special 'one off kit' for the final, like they did the semi final...

I heard this morning and it I think is confirmed on thefa.com/fatv (I'm not able to look because I'm at work) so if someone could let me know - that the kit is white and burgundy for the final?

That would be an interesting idea, a team strip just for the final. As for Dindane, if it's only one game, so be it. He can keep himself fit & Avram can decide if he's ready to play not admin andy!!!

Keep going over the gary o'neil situation and i keep reminding you that in no way is this similar. we are in admin and the administrator would be crucified if he let a buy out clause kick in, boro at this point are not in admin and as far as i know are no where near it, so completely different, lets not have this conversation again. and dindane will play lens will relent

I think that for once Admin Andy has got it wrong. I am sure that Dindane can keep himself fit for the next 4 weeks. He haven't appeared for a couple of weeks before the SF and he did put in a great performance, so why he cannot do this again? Stupid argument. Another thing, I think that Boateng, Rocha, Wilson and Yebda will not feature again but will play the final. Are all these players going to be un-fit? I am sure they won't. Let us face it, Lens have every right to keep their point, that was the deal made, and we should not expect them to call it off! So Andy should be thanking them for giving us the opportunity to have in the final and not complaining about it!

I think Admin has it right the player must be match fit and that means playing some of the few remaining games left. There are certain differences between our situation and the Boro stance: 1, Pompey are in administration, 2, M O'N has played 99 games for Boro who are trying it on with a derisory offer cos we are in administration. Lens like Boro need their players to shop window as he can leave at the end of the season; I would expect a deal to be done on both.

Can Dinny play in the reserves for the next four weeks, is it just first team footy that he is not allowed????

Thought dindane was great against spurs, it would be a shame not to see him in the final. But I'm sure admin andy will sort someting out
