That was unconfirmed team news, this is the confirmed team, 21 Ashdown, Rocha, Vanden Borre, Ward, Diop, Brown, Utaka, Basinas, Wilson,Ritchie, Smith. Two youngsters start and the bench is Sowah, Yebda, Pack, Piquionne and maybe O'Brien.

the official site does not have o'brien down - so it looks like NO back-up keeper and just 3 on the bench, i reckon there is a good bet pack will get a game too...

GUTTED, really gutted that i have missed matty ritchie's debut, devistated!

Great to see the kids getting out there - but why no Jamie O'Hara!? Surely he needs a match after having to miss out at the weekend?

Good luck to all the young lads making their debuts tonight. They are the future and if they can come good will save the club millions in the years ahead. Surprised O'Brien not on bench as I thought he travelled. No game for the King either?

O'Brien was training with Ashdown before the game so i think he is on bench if we need him.

Our youngsters are playing really well, all credit to them. the commentators on the feed I'm watching started off criticising the weakened team selection and have had to eat their words now! That said, somehow this match has 0-0 all over it.

i think that'd do me to be honest Tracy, but would be lovely to see one of the youngsters score wouldn't it

I think O'hara is been saved a bit, he is on 8 bookings I think, close to a two match ban, Ritchie for a short-arse seems to get his head to a lot!

not used to being at home for games :-( still disappointed to be missing ritchie, and ward to be fair, playing - sounds like they are doing ok tho....
good luck to lenny on for the 2nd half too, methinks marlon pack 'might' get on too.

i suspect that o'hara will be back on sunday, but think paul is right we have to be careful that he does not miss the final through suspension.

No other site has reported O'Brien being as a sub. Strange! How can a PL team have no sub-keeper? What will happen if Jamie gets injured? Very strange line up indeed. I thought Jamie and Kanu will play. They don't even feature anywhere. Only Grant would know, or perhaps they are having a party this evening!

o'brien was told an hour before ko he was being pulled out, because the club cannot afford to pay QPR a payment for making his first team debut. Apparently the clause was only noticed by the administrator in the last week. negotiations will continue with QPR, but they are unlikely to back down. This means he will not be able to play until the club leave administration or he is sold. Shameful way to treat a youngster.

Fair play to the Pompey fans at the DW tonight, not many but they made some noise, Brownie was very good again, good luck in the cup final, we may be seeing you next season after all!!!

gr8 game and nice to see the gaffer allowing a few youngsters to make their debuts despite thefact he said it's cos he had no other players??????????? a gr8 display from jamie Ashdown who played with more confidence than he'sdared for a while i believe! sitting in Jame's shadow for so long has never been easy but fair play for staying in there.........don't blame him if he moves on though next season unless guaranteed to play>
