'If It's Football, It's Vital'

New bidder in for Pompey?

News that Pompey plan to 'appeal' to the FA to let us apply to take our place in next seasons Europa league was, in my mind anyway, good news - although Admin Andy's views that a 'well known and substantial group' that is a 'serious player,' and one that has been looking to own a football club for 12-months, is showing an interest in Pompey is 'potentially' even better news, right?

Speaking 'exclusively' to ESPN Soccernet, after our semi final win, he said: 'it was such a marvellous occasion and such a wonderful result for the club, and it has already triggered further interest. We had one party who had shown interest, they were hovering, a real significant consortium with sporting interests, and this morning they came to step up their interest.

'I got the phone call I had almost been expecting as a consequence of the heroics on the field, and with club now in the FA Cup final. We are talking about a well known and substantial group, and if their firm interest materialises into a bid it would secure the future of Portsmouth for a very, very long time.

'This group are serious players, and they have been looking at football club ownership for the past 12 months but haven't found the one they want. Perhaps Portsmouth can now be the one. We shall soon find out, let's see what the day brings, it wouldn't surprise me if there was another call.

'Of course I am not at liberty to divulge the name of the latest consortium to declare their interest, but it has certainly encouraged me this morning.

'It makes it all worthwhile, it was a great day for the fans and for the club, and it can be the catalyst to bring forward the right buyer for Portsmouth.'

There was, what is 'said' to have been a 'positive' meeting held with Admin Andy last Thursday, in which he came across pretty well and impressed many by all accounts. A couple of people who had been at this meeting, or spoken with people that had, have told me this, which is positive news. So, it 'seems' that the guy is starting to win people over.

Putting aside the fact that we are in the FA cup final, again, which is of course good news and can only help us find a new owner - the fact that we have seen some positive 'off-the-field' developments recently, what with a new kit deal agreed with Kappa and a new chief exec appointed, you cannot help but think that we are 'heading' in the right direction, right...

As for these 'possible' new bidders, who 'could' become our new owner(s), of course time will tell on this - all we can do is keep our fingers firmly crossed that something, with someone, can and will happen and that this can FINALLY be 'the real deal' for us.

It's all good Rug, bids create bids in the world of finance. I think the new chief execs start date will be a pivotal moment.

Got to agree Russell. Success breeds success too and a Cup Final berth will more than just attract bidders even though they have to rebuild the club next season.

Things are looking good indeed. I'm not gonna be getting excited yet, but things are starting to look up.

Need to the good news band wagon rolling in. A name I heard mention as a buyer is the easy jet chap!!!!

Sounds like good news, fingers crossed it is, and that it happens. I'm sure this bit of success and pluckiness must help attract a buyer. That could be way more important than going back to Europe.

Good News! Hope they just get on and do it. But we're in the Cup final so who cares.

So, we could have a bidding war for who gets free tickets to the Cup Final eh. Amazing what a trip to Wembley can do.

Storagematt, are you sure about that or are you getting confused with Stavros Flatley??? Sorry - I have heard so many names in the frame over the years, that until something goes through I think we should just wait and see.

My hunch would be it being MAGNA & TABOR the Horse Racing folks. Tabor tried to buy WHU a few years back and MAGNA had MUFC of course. They have the funds and have been linked previously...and have shown interest in getting into football...and are already a "Sporting" concern...all boxes ticked for deductional skills...Sherlock Holmes was a Pompey Fan you Know..or is that confusing some issues?.... My Only other Idea is the Dubaii bunch who was intrerested in Liverpool....but this only ticks the "Been looking to buy a club for about a year, but would certainly guarentee the financial security for a very long time" A/Andy quote. I will remind you all of this possible prediction as i did about the 4-1 score loine at St Fairies, and the 2-0 score line at Wembley(and Boateng scoring)...didnt get the extra time though.
