Down but not out!

Down but not out!

So, what has seemed pretty much inevitable since last summer, without a doubt since the penalty points for going into admin were confirmed, was today confirmed - relegation after West Ham won.

It had only been a matter of time before this was 100% official, and in many ways the fact that - despite this said points penalty - we have, albeit only on a mere 'mathematical' technicality, managed to survive with less than half a dozen games to play is a 'victory' in itself given all that we have gone through this season.

We can, and WILL, go down with our heads held high not only after the way we have conducted ourselves over the past 10-months - maybe not those in the boardroom! - with what we have endured but also proud of what we have achieved over the past 7-years or so as a top-flight club.

Yet our season is not done, not by a long way!

I would hope that we continue to give it everything on the pitch in our remaining league games, as I sure as hell know we WILL continue to give it everything off the pitch - we DO still have further pride and dignity to play for.

And of course there is that 'small matter' of an FA cup semi final to be played tomorrow afternoon.

Both Spurs and ourselves now know that Chelski await.

If many felt/feel that Spurs is a mammoth task to overcome then Chelski will be completely out of the question in some people's minds! Although, lets not get ahead of ourselves, lets get tomorrow out of the way first and see what it brings - lets go to Wembley, enjoy, offer the fanatical support that we do and then take the remaining games, hopefully including the FA cup final, as they come.

We are down but we are by no means out, and we never will be - the Pompey spirit will NEVER be broken...

For me tomorrow is about being part of the Pompey community. Funnily enough, I've just been reading about the play When Saturday Comes and some dialogue from there it sums it up brilliantly for me: when you leave your house to go to the match you're on your own. Then you see another person in a football scarf. Then one or two of you become the trickle. Then the trickle becomes the river. Then the river becomes the flood. Then you get the sense of "Oh my God - we're all heading towards Shangri-La..." Being part of something mighty which is buried deep in the DNA of all Pompey fans is a brilliant feeling and I don't care if they are Premiership, Championship or Jefferson Starship, Pompey is Pompey. Nevertheless I have prophesied 2-1 to us with Big Fred and Little Dinners nicking the goals, probably coming back from 0-1 down and probably against the run of play.

You lot have my respect. All season you have stayed with the team and backed them. You will be fine and soon with a new owner you might be able to think bout fighting your way back.

This game is not about the match ( want the win though) it's about building the support for next season

Cheap goals and not taking chances

Sums up the Pompey season doesn't it? Pompey, whilst scoring a decent amount, aren't taking enough of our chances with the Blues' soft centre seeing too many 'cheap' goals given away!

Pompey confirm January striker arrival!

We're not into November, with the transfer window not opening against until January, but when it does a deal for Hampton & Richmond's former Barnet forward Jamal Lowe will kick-in.

MotM in poor Notts County show...Cambridge next

There wasn't too much to cheer from the Notts County defeat was there, well certainly not the 2nd half at Fratton Park but one plus was seen as Amine Linganzi for Pompey.
