We want to believe, right?

We want to believe, right?

Surely we ALL want to believe that there is a genuine interest in someone wanting to takeover Pompey, right?

And we also want to believe that this interest is strong enough to not only save us but help rebuild us, yet there is bound to be a scepticism level that sees doubt, with phrases such as 'once bitten, twice shy' and 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me' and so on springing instantly to mind...

All of which is, lets be fair, fair enough as we HAVE been let down so many times over the years, and not just in the most depressing past year or so - so, it IS hard to give anyone the benefit of the doubt or think 'are they for real' etc.

But - and I AM NOT letting my guard down, nor do I suggest anyone else doing this - could Rob Lloyd's 'mystery man' really be 'the real deal?'

Clearly Lloyd himself is 'fairly keen' on the publicity, even if his so-called 'secret million/billionaire' backer is not, but the 'right noises' and moves 'seem' to be being made.

Then again this is also often the case! Stop it Rug...

Lloyd visited the site for our 'proposed training ground' in Gosport yesterday and undertook what is described as a 'good meeting' with a former councillor with Lloyd 'said' to be 'very interested in the site and he was keen when I told him work could start at any time, as planning permission is already in place' he is also 'said' to want this area to be 'used by the community as well.'

Sounds good, right? Ah, but they always do...Stop it, hear the guy out!

When you look at the 'predicament' we are in and the countless million that will, in affect, have to be 'written off' before anything else is done you think 'why' would someone, who is not a genuine fan - and even a genuine fan 'could' find it hard to plough in what is needed if truth be known - want to do this?

Other sayings are 'if it is too good to be true if often is,' again perhaps this is the case here but WHY would so much time and effort, even if it is not so much money, be 'wasted' on this if it was not a 'real thing' here...

I would feel much more at ease if we know who this 'mysterious bidder' is and the cynic would stop saying that Lloyd is using this as nothing more than a means of generating some fantastic 'free publicity' for himself, although with due diligence 'said' to take 10-14 days maximum, we 'should', in theory, at least have a better idea how 'real' this takeover after this timescale, 'perhaps' towards the end on next week?

As said lets not get 'hoodwinked,' saw this word used by The News this week, into anything but lets not also totally close off the thought that we might have maybe, just maybe found something, or someone that can save us and offer us a future and perhaps, most importantly of all, sort out the infrastructure of this club. Something that is a MUST for us to have ANY hope of retaining a long-term future...

should we be worried by you talking to yourself? ;) lol but you have a good point we shouldn't just write it off but then again its hard to believe anything when it comes to pompey anymore, as always we'll just have to wait and see (wow i'm bored of saying that lol)

not as worried as i should be tho m@!
08/04/2010 12:02:00
Rug, if we are to believe everything we are told by AA ,then there are another 24 bidders behind Rob Lloyd, so no I'm not excited, cos if he doesn't want it, one of the other 24 will.......... hahahahahahahahaha - ohmigod - my sides hurt!
08/04/2010 12:19:00
Why are there no ridiculously wealthy pompey fans :-(
08/04/2010 12:27:00
Stooh, isn't 'Twitchy' a very wealthy Pompey Fan! He keeps harping on how much he loves the Club and how he took us to another level! For that matter isn't Storrie ridiculously weathly with all the tax savings he has made? Mystery man:) Magner?
08/04/2010 12:44:00
Give Fred Dineage a pay rise. He'll come straight in with his billions he's had put aside from How2 and save us. Either way, I don't think even if I wanted to get my hopes up for this one, I can't. Not until the t's are crossed and the i's are dotted, until then, we're stuck with lowercase L's and dotless I's.

We may know a little more after this evening meeting with Admin Andy!! I hope so anyway to make the trip worthwhile.

IMHO whoever buys Pompey will be doing it as a business venture and not for the love of our club; fact we need to get used to it. I don't believe Mudie's mates are any different to any other investment vehicle.
08/04/2010 16:07:00
russ i accept this, and know this is how football works - so long as their 'business venture', whoever it is, is not to come in, screw us over, strip away anything else they can and leave us for dead as the other lot did i am happy enough.

I do want to believe, but I also don't want to be taken for a mug again. Bit concerned though to hear yesterday that the mystery investor has actually changed, its a different secret person now. Makes you wonder if there is a real backer at all, or is Lloyd hoping to get someone on line after he's been through the books? Shades of Sulaiman? Still lets just hope its all going to be fine.

Another Fratton disappointment

That 2nd half on Saturday against Notts County was woeful - absolutely awful wasn't it. The first 15-minutes or so of it was like a pre-season friendly to pre-season!

Match highlights - Pompey 1-2 Notts County

What a disappointment that was! The 1st half wasn't bad, in fact large chunks of it were good but the 2nd half was just woeful with a soft centred Pompey beaten 2-1 by Notts County.
